What a cool game. You weren't lying when you called it mayhem. I love how chaotic the gun-induced movement feels. It was really well polished and felt like a thought-out game. The graphics were really nice too. I also loved the cool retro-style sounds. I think adding more variety in the upgrades would increase replayability. Also i wasn't sure what the hammer thing does. Really cool overall tho, nice one !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

The hammer repairs your hull, or if you're at full health it gives you points.

I'm also working on a post-jam version with 3 more upgradable parts and a few more power ups.

Also, I'm surprised you think it was thought-out. You wouldn't believe how many concept revisions I went through while working on this. In fact the original idea was a slow-paced puzzle game.

Haha nice, you had me fooled! Will be looking out for the postjam

I love the "shoot to move" mechanic in the game, the gameplay is really solid and fun. I also love the artstyle of the game. The music felt almost too intense though.

Solid game! Really fun to play

I really liked the gameplay, had a lot of fun ! Maybe the repair item icon could be more clear

Beautiful work, loved the physics system and arcade gameplay, I find it really innovatibe as a mix. I love that you also can improve your gun and hull, I would love to see how those upgrades apply graphically with a more bad ass hull/gun. Congrats for the great submission!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it!

I actually had the idea for the sprite to change depending on which upgrades you had, and just didn't have time to implement it.

I'm considering doing it for a post jam version that I'm working on, but that will be substantially more difficult as there's now 5 upgradable parts instead of just 2.

This is one of the few games in this jam where I have to make use of physics to move around and position myself - very cool, it was nicely done!:D Also, props to you for making all the visual assets on top of the code - it was very polished in that sense, I like the style you went with. Cool :)

Great game, I love games utilizing physics. Very smart and well made!

Really cool rope physics.  Nice ambient sounds.  This would work great on mobiles, I'd look into that if I were you.  Although difficulty definitely needs tweaking and you need to fix the bell going off screen as you've noted elsewhere.

Excellent entry.

Thanks!

And I've already solved the boundary issue in a post-jam version.

I like how simple controls are and visuals are easy for eyes. Overall well done!

Nice use of the theme, the game was good. Reminded me of some games of my youth.

Really interesting gameplay and great use of the theme. With a couple more upgrade types and threats this would kill as a mobile game.

Developer

I'm currently working on a post jam version with three new upgrade types, which should (hopefully) enhance the depth of the game's systems. I also have some ideas for enemies which I'm planning on making soon.

Thanks for playing!

A fun game that could really work well on mobile.

At first, I was shooting all over the place like a psychopath, but as I learned to play, I found myself shooting when I had to, and where I had to, to enjoy a smooth and pleasant descent.

The upgrade system is a real plus.

Well done for a job well done in 1 week!

Really fun and polished game! The graphics looked great and the gameplay was really fun! Nice job!

Finally found time to check this out and was not disappointed! It feels like it could be one of those games you'd spend all your money on in an arcade! I didn't quite like the static sound of the shots hitting something, but that's more just a personal thing than a game problem. Love the little air bubbles and having to stop the fish! They just add another level of difficulty that I really appreciate to stop the game from getting repetitive. Amazing job! You definitely deserve the popularity that this is getting! :D

Already have, great game by the way.

Good game mechanics. Simple controls and nice music

i love how you have to shoot left/right to move side to side, it makes the game a lot more unique and fun imo. one thing i would change about the game is making the enemies more noticeable because as of right now, its pretty hard to spot those small grey dudes before they get too close. Besides that, the rest of the game is really good!

Developer(+1)

I tried giving them red outlines in order to make them pop a bit more, and then like a complete moron made the swordfish the exact same colour as the terrain. That'll definitely be fixed in the post jam version.

Thanks for the feedback!
