Good music and very fun idea. I see a lof ot potential in this game especially if you add new type of interactions. It was very enjoyable, satisfying and easy to get into it. Really enjoyed playing it!

Awesome game, it was a lot of fun. The level 3 song was amazing. great job!

This game was loads of fun. One thing you should consider is mapping it to controller inputs and then having a 2-player vs mode. would be a fun party game

Great rythym game, I love the concept of matching the lock picking to the beat, level 2 was my favourite song :D

That was really neat. Impressive that you managed to make a rhythm game in a week. I would've liked a bit more variation in the timings, seems like the notes come out at the same rate of the song's bpm the whole time.

Awesome job!

I liked the way of thinking and level designs, it is an enjoyable game.

Very unique concept! I played a few rhythm games so I skipped right to Insane difficulty. It was quite the challenge but it was fun and the music is great! Well done!

Making multiple levels for a jam, with each a different sound and all is a lot of work, good job! The idea of the "puzzle" or rythm game is cool, i like it. It gets kinda tight if you don't align the mouse correctly but thats on me xd. I would sugest more feedback when hitting or missing a note. Other than that, is a really good submision. Congratulations

Super fun idea and nice execution! :D Rhythm games are tough to get right, and you did a great job of making it intuitive and challenging! :) It took me a bit to get used to the calibration, but I think I eventually got there!

Really enjoyed the variety of backgrounds, level difficulties, and music choices -- super impressive for only a week's worth of time!

What a fun and interesting concept for a rythm game. Attention to detail and the artstyle were super super good

Here's my notes:
- why does the tutorial only show every 3 times I open the level selector? Putting it on the side of the first level would have worked a lot better, because I ended up missing it and it took me forever to find it.
- I would add LMB as another way to hit the notes, it just makes more sense than moving the mouse and pressing a key on the keyboard.
- I love the different death songs, that's a nice touch
- You can pause and unpause to continue after the game over screen comes up, and can even go into negative lives which is funny. The music disappears tho which is unfortunate.
- The pixelated font doesn't fit in with the paintery style

Here's a list of effects to add to achieve juice supremacy:
- Some sort of trail effect for the notes and the lockpick
- A stronger effect for hitting the notes (not just some sparkles, some sort of explosion-ish effect would work better)
- A flash on the lockpick every time you hit [space]
- SFX for moving the lockpick fast
- SFX for hitting the note correctly and incorrectly
- When hitting a note correctly, it's corresponding circle should flash with the color of the note (I'm bad at explaining)
- When getting hit, add a mild screenshake (but not too much, as that would throw the player off), maybe some vignette and chromatic abberation
- Add some 2D lighting, so make the scene darker, and add a point light in the middle to make the game feel more dynamic and less flat, this could especially help for the 2nd and 4th level, which has painted lights in the background, instead of having engine lights that would affect the game more.
- Add another explosion for spawning in the notes
- Add some pulsing effect for the notes to make them less flat (with some shaders and a sine wave)

Overall, I absolutely love the game concept and it's a nice prototype, but for a full release it needs a lot more work, especially in the juice department.

Oh also, I'm very close to hitting 20 rates on my game, so if you have some time, I'd appreciate if you would rate my entry as well! ❤️

Enjoyed the concept and loved the music! Among the lockpicking games in this jam, yours stands out with a unique approach. I noticed a slight alignment issue between the circle part of the key and the white circle, making timing a bit tricky. Adding effects for hitting the key at the right time, such as perfect, good, and excellent, would enhance the experience. Visual cues like a green glow for a correct hit or red for a miss could be helpful. Also, a point system with rewards for precise timing and deductions for misses could add to the gameplay. Overall, well done!

Thank you for your comment, and we're glad it stands out! :) Unfortunately, there were indeed some out-of-sync issues with the prompts.
Your suggestions regarding the VFX for the hits and such are also very useful! If the team keeps working on the game, maybe they will see the light of day :) Thank you!!

Interesting to mix a music rhythm game with door lock picking :) I though the music’s were a bit too long

Developer

Thank you for your comment! It was really creative and funny how our Game Designer came up with the concept for the game :)
Regarding the length of the music, we've decided to stick between 1m30 - 2m pieces, but by the time I composed a few of them, most had 2 minutes, so I had to stick with a sort of consistency - but also because more time means more challenge :)
