How does your game fit the theme?
Our game, Crossroad Chaos, fits the theme "Calm Before the Storm" by representing the contrast between the peaceful start of a day and the hectic rush hour traffic that follows. At the beginning, traffic is light and easy to manage, but as the day progresses, the pressure builds and the storm of vehicles and pedestrians intensifies. You, as the traffic officer, must maintain order amidst the growing chaos. The calm of the morning is soon replaced by the storm of rush hour, where every decision counts!

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The entire development programming and design of Crossroad Chaos was done by our team (Alan & Geros) during the game jam. We created some of our own UI assets (title, arrows, keyboard buttons) but also utilized Syntys Polygon City for the art assets to quickly bring our vision of a bustling city to life. All sound effects were sourced from royalty-free assets on freesound.com, and the music tracks are royalty-free assets from the following sources:

Music 1: Children's Comedy by Pixabay
Music 2: Comedy Music by Chosic

Great usage of the theme! I love the concept of being a crossing guard and having to dodge the cars. Definitely got a couple of laughs out of my deaths. The only gripe I have is with the tank-style controls making it difficult to move left and right change the open car directions quickly during rush hour. I feel like a locked camera perspective and being able to move up down left and right with wasd would suit the game better? Regardless, I had a really good time!

Developer

Thank you for playing! There is a locked camera mode in the settings but we didn't have time to change the controller to like you said. i absolutely agree it is hard to move around and will add that controller in a later version

This is an amazing game. The visuals and the gameplay are really nice. I also like the sounds game effects on this game. A minor thing is that it is quite bugged, but that is understandable for a jam. Would love to see this get patched up in the future.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! I 'll let you know when we fix the bugs after the jam to fully enjoy the mayhem!

Awesome idea for the theme, I would start lagging really badly after about a minute of playing but it's a great idea for a game and it was alot of fun when it was working smoothly. This could be an awesome game if you guys keep working on it! Great job!
Also one thing that would be nice if you'd be able to strafe left/right other than just being able to run straight while turning the camera

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback. We have the replay bug and performance issues due to the tight deadline yes.

We also have 3 camera views you can toggle (fixed, follow, center rotate) but yes we plan to have strafe for the controller too in the future.
