How does your game fit the theme?
In two ways:
1. The core gameplay mechanic of tower defense embodies the idea of the calm before the storm. Limited time to figure out defenses.
2. The nostalgia mode toggle sets the game's aesthetic to match games from our (the developers) childhood, and the addition of muffled arguing helps to convey the reality that nostalgia for many people whose childhoods were affected by events outside of their control was just the feeling of the calm before the storm.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, the music and SFX are royalty free, but everything else is hand made.

This game looks really cool! I enjoyed playing it although it was a bit easy. You could basically win the game with two which towers. Apart from that it’s cool though and with maybe more enemy types and more balancing this could be a great game. Good job!
Hee-ho. Cool game. Nice TV effect. Thanks for cool experience
I'm amazed by how well you pulled off the arcade aesthetic, not just from the visual style, but also the in-game and out-of-game audio. With the ambient sounds happening in real life, including the segment of bickering behind the player, the games does feel like it slots right into an arcade building. The audio may need to be louder at base, and the pause menu doesn't actually pause the game nor has a UI background to make the text for the settings and controls visible.
The gameplay, however, leaves a lot to be deserved, unfortunately. The tower defense genre does suit well, but the execution in terms of balancing and tower abilities are not where they should be. Only the archers feel remotely useful, and the enemy waves don't change much or at all to overwhelm or at least encourage the player to change strategies. In fact, from a certain wave onward, there's only one enemy coming out per wave. This quickly led to a monotonous game with archers on the front and all the other towers being either empty or completely idle. Additionally, the UI for selecting a tower is obscured for the tower bases at the bottom of the stage, preventing me from selecting a witch for any of the bottom towers.
nice and simple ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
I think more people should rate and play it, this is a really cool game. I liked the tower defense mechanics and how simple it was to understand. Like the melee aspect with your character and having to be careful not to die by getting hit by the enemies.
To improve it, the "Respawn?" button is greyed out, but it doesn't seem prominent enough to me and I almost didn't notice it and thought it was a bug. Perhaps it should have something added to make it more obvious it is greyed out for the moment, such as a lower opacity. In addition to this, maybe there should be a small countdown such as "Respawn in (5)" or however long it is until it goes all the way down and it shows it updating the amount of time left. Then the button UI changes and the "Respawn" button as you have it now in white text shows up and can be selected then to respawn.
Other than that I really liked the visual style and graphics, and the mechanic worked really well and was fun, nice job on this!
Nostalgia mode makes the audio way worse and adds the sound of your parents arguing in the background...
So that's gonna be a five stars for audio lmao. Never expected that as a feature in a game. The actual game is pretty fun too. I wish there was more and the waves kept increasing in numbers, but at some point only 1 enemy spawns every round and the game sort of falls flat at that point.
Up until then, though, it was a wonderful little tower defense game with great visuals and a relatively fun, if somewhat unexplored, gameplay loop.
Well done.
Really fun! The atmosphere was great and when the argument started it really freqked me out, which I guess is the goal ;). I also had a bug where the waves stopped coming past a certain wave, but other than that it felt great!
This was super fun and very well polished. I played it for much longer than any other submission. The one problem I ran into was that the robots stopped spawning after wave ~25. Besides that, it was amazing, the animations were great and the effects were too.
