How does your game fit the theme?
Calm before the storm. You lived in peace, your powers kept secret, until word got out. Now you must practice fighting back before the wizard arrives to defeat you!
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes I wrote all the code
No, not all the assets are created by me. I have credited the sources

The Game is Amazing!
It is fun, It's fine.
Really cool design on the character and backgrounds. I really enjoyed the pre-boss fight vibe. The calm/storm dynamic is a bit off since the practice character is not much easier than the wizard. The gameplay is interesting but could use some more pizazz. You could make it basically Cuphead with autoshooting and a similar "opening" for more powerful attacks. The jump seems like it's just there as a byproduct of starting as a sidescroller. The music is pretty good, nice job having multiple tracks in there.
Hee-ho. Cool game. Nice vibe
After the voting ends and the game jam is over I will upload a version that fixes the resolution issues
I liked this little game, simple but fun :)
At 1st I didn’t understand when to hit since the animation feels it’s a melee attack but after pressing the damage button when the enemy background changed, I understood when I could attack.
Outside that, the game was fun, the deflect was fun and forgiving, it has a cooldown which makes the game more interesting instead of just spamming deflect. I would liked 1 pattern more in the attacks of the wizard after mid fight only to spice the fight a little bit more haha
The tutorial is good and the wizard fight feels fun, it reminds me of old games I used to play.
The music goes well with the game and I like the simple visuals.
I had a good little time. :)
Yes the sprite had a nice attack animation and I wanted to use it even as you say it's a bit unclear.
Thanks for noticing the cooldown! Even with it the hitbox is still a little off. It's a full circle so it occasionally deflects bullets that are already past you. Lots of room for improvement!
I never thought about having a second phase for the boss, will keep that in mind for future games.
Appreciate the comments thanks for playing!
Cool art and music. Gameplay was interesting, and I enjoyed the feeling of deflecting the projectiles. Great work! Congrats and good luck!
Hey thanks! I considered having the deflected bullets damage the enemy but I didn't want to mess with what I had planned out. Perhaps in the future
I like the ability to deflect bullets and sprites are nice. Fun game!
Thanks for commenting. The deflect was going to be one of 3 abilities but as you know, you have to cut back to hit the deadline!
Hey great job on the Jam! Fun idea for game. The UI and textures sort of glitched out, as a tip I would suggest looking into Godot's stretch mode settings. If you have it set to disabled it can cause some weirdness when playing at different resolutions. Regardless nice job, cheers
Thank you!
I've looked into the resolution issues and it's exactly as you said, stretch mode was set to disabled. One click to change it to viewport would have fixed it looks like. I worked hard to make sure there were little to no bugs, but missed this. What a shame!
Making a game for this jam was supposed to be a learning experience so at least I've learned for next time
That's the spirit! And now you know :) I learned a bunch of stuff this Jam as well
The reoccurring wizard sprite!! (We used it as well lol)
The background image is glitched, but the game is fun.
Had fun!
Thanks!
Sorry I turned resizable off in the project settings and never looked back. Lesson learned!
