First of all probs for making it in time! That's a great accomplishment! I have some few suggestions and few bugs I came across, lets starts with the suggestions, I think for a jam game, the map should be a lot smaller than it is, so that the player doesn't walk around confused for long. I also suggest that you make and arrow pointing to where you have to go. Now with the bugs, i noticed that some peoples names wouldn't appear on there heads like other people. I also noticed that when you walk behind a building or a light pole, you get rendered in front of it, that can be easily solved by following around with some youtube tutorials. Good luck with future jam :D Hope you try mine too https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722968

Thanks for the feedback! I def plan to incorporate that feedback after the rating period is over! The game branching logic is what took up most of my time. It was crazy. Rated your game as well!

yeah the dialogue was cool and also the sprite designs but i kinda didnt know what to do in the game i suggest you should add a quest on what the player should do, also the character just keeps facing right. and i also keep seeing the lines of the colliders i dont know if that was intentional.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I had lots of problems with the tiles with the Unity URP. All the tutorial videos are on the original rendering pipeline and all the options are different.  Quest task on the screen is a good idea. Rated your game! fun!

It was fun walking around the town and enjoying the dialog and the unique sprite art!  I was playing my laptop so the screen was way bigger than my laptop resolution haha, but still cool!  I got a bit loss on where to go, perhaps upload a full walkthrough of your cool game on YouTube?  I'd like to watch it fully played as intended hehe. Congrats on submitting an openworld game to the jam, please check out my game if you haven't :D

Developer

Oh man that's a good idea on a walk through. I think I'll do that! Thanks for the feedback. Rated your game as well!

Developer (1 edit)

Ok NeatGames, I made a video of the walkthrough, good idea:

I really liked the story (at least to the point i got) but i found difficult to know what i was suppossed to go! Maybe having some markers on the ui would've helped.

Developer

And a mini-map I think. Thanks for the feedback! Your game was fun.

Nice little adventure game, although I'd like a little more guidance on what to do, it felt a little random and disjointed sometimes to me (although admittedly the type of game is probably not my jam!). Like someone else said, maybe a map or a marker of some kind offering some guidance. The text was good but sometimes the triggers seemed a bit random to me (not sure if some are time based?).

Developer(+1)

Yes, I've gotten this feedback a few times. Thanks for the input. I plan to update it afterwards. I like your pinball/marble game! nice job.

Awesome, thank you for checking it out! And I'll try and stop by post jam to see the changes and give more feedback if you like :)

The game itself is fun and overall good! It really needs a tutorial at the beggining or something that tells you what to do. It feels like a game a lot of love was put into, so thumbs up on that. The artstyle is not my cup of tea, but looks fine, although the proportions are a bit off. A map would be nice, i got lost 2 times and didnt know where i was or where to go.

The music is great btw, really puts you in the mood.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I'll work on that!

The game seems quite complex and the story is interesting, but you should have focused a bit more in helping the player understand what she/he has to do next, since I found myself wandering around aimlessly a lot. The proportions of the characters with respect to the environment are a bit weird (a person is almost as high as a lampost), but that's not an important issue, as I appreciated the whole art style. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I plan to address that in the next update. Liked your game as well.

A very cute game! I enjoyed walking around and discovering everything. Unfortunately the tile map shows on the road so it takes away from the graphics a bit :( The audio is great though!

nice!

Groovy game, great story, I love small town mysteries! A more robust intro with controls and instructions would be helpful as I did spend quite a bit of time just wandering around, but overall I like the concept! Keep it up :)

I loved getting to explore the world and feel like a detective talking to all the people and figuring out what happened. The music and sound effects really helped set the scene. Nice work!

Awesome story! And great music too. StrangerThings like.
A map would be a nice add. Or a "Run" button at least.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for input. Rated your game too. I think I might add a mini-map.

Nice work on the art, as mentioned by others already a bit more direction would be super helpful.

Feedback; A bunch of the props are missing colliders so you can walk through them. If you want to fix the white lines issue that persists in your side walk art you can through the art into an sprite atlas. You can complete the top down effect by splitting your art assets in half so the top part can be on a layer in front of the player while the bottom is behind the player. Combining that with a collider thats half way will give you a nice effect for walking around objects like light posts and trees.

and again congrats on completing your second game jam

Developer(+1)

Yes, thank you. I started to figure that out the end. Didn't think about splitting them in half! That's a good idea.

Not bad. Unfortunately, the outlines of the tiles can be seen for the road which really breaks the immersion. I think Brackeys talks in one of his Tutorials why this happens and how to prevent it. Also, your NPCs can be moved by the player character, this can be avoided by freezing their positions. Overall, really nice idea though!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing though. I know about the lines, I struggled with that for awhie. I tried Brackeys videos a bunch of others, they all reference the original rendering piplne. None of the settings people show are there in the URP.  I did ask the community but no responses. I would love to do an update to fix that but not sure we're allowed to update after the fact.
