This game was creative in its use of 2D platforming! We had the same title, and I'm really impressed that it's all made by you from scratch. Very cool.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
It is about having to rewind some VHS tapes in order to get them to play in a platform style
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I made everything in this game from scratch!

I'll start of with saying that this is a good game, and I can imagine that it would have been hard to make. However, I have some constructive feedback:
1) While the game is in line with the theme, you should really incorporate rewinding somehow as a gameplay mechanic itself. This is not to "better align with the theme", as it is already aligned with the theme, but instead to make the game stand out from other games of the same genre. It's a fun game, but it's a generic one.
2) Level design. While some levels being a bit tedious is completely fine, having the only unique thing from level to level be the increase in how tedious they are is extremely repetitive- the levels should make the player think. And I have a theory on why this happened: the level design itself isn't the problem, but the issue I mentioned above is. The only gameplay feature this game has (aside from reaching certain checkpoints to rewind), is blocks that flicker in and out of existence.
However, it is a good game nevertheless! I had fun playing the game :)
The flow of the game is great! The controls and the simplicity were in great combination for the player who just started. With more time, I think you could polish a little bit the visuals. Great work, friend!
Super fun game to play. The graphics are really funny for me and the game isn't to hard to finish it which in my opinion is really important. The controllers are smooth and enjoyable.
Nice game, and it's impressive that you did it all yourself!
Mine has a similar theme, if you want to check it out, it's also my first jam
Congrats on your first game jam experience. This is my second. Did the first one about a month ago. Good job for a first entry. Levels weren't too difficult and the visuals were good.
Please rate and play my game too: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/723414
We almost had the same name with our games apparently, ahahah. Despite being a very classical platformer and the fact that collisions were a bit weird sometimes, I really enjoyed the levels. They were challenging enough and the art and sound tied them together nicely. Good job!
Oh man, throwback to good ol' Blockbuster Video! Nice work on your first jam!
Loved the retro music and visuals! Really enjoyed your work!
Took me around 3mins to beat. Once I learned you could jump again after touching even the bottom of a block. Had a nice megaman floating platform vibe.
The game was pretty nice. I suck at game and I got 4 minutes something.
Awesome job, especially with this being your first jam! The disappearing platforms reminded me of classic Mega Man.
I noticed you stick to the walls. One hack I do in Unity is just sticking a second collider with no friction on the character. If it's shorter than the main collider, you keep the friction on your feet, but slide down walls.
Pretty good level desgin and the sound effects were very fitting :)
