Gorgeous visually
The jumping and landing SFX is very satisfying
The enemies are terrifying
Feels very polished
Dying feels like a jumpscare
I feel like the connection to the theme is a bit loose
Lovely design. The movement felt a little off and the walking sounds have been weird. Other than that you got a nice game there.
This ticks a lot of the boxes of an amazing jam game: solid mechanics, stunning visuals, puzzles that aren't too hard but not a pushover either. Close it off with great atmosphere where everything is really well tied together.
A minor thing for sure, but really liked the way you guided the player (introducing the box for the first time) without having a giant arrow pointing at it. Beautiful, beautiful work at all fronts. My favorite game of the jam so far!
Great visuals, you have used almost everything I know that can be used to enhanced visual in a 2d game.
The puzzles are not very hard neither very simple, I had a great time playing this.
Love the art style and music, reminded me of Ori. Great camera movement as well.
Platform part needs some improvements, I got trapped in the following area and could not get back up on the platforms.
Oh did not notice that the last comment also complained about the same area, unfortunately I also ran into the same problem where I was not able to continue the game because of that issue
Unfortunately you were not trapped per say, as there was a death pit to your left, which upon entering would have restarted the level. But the issue the person below is mentioning is that the part you fell in felt a little cheap given it was at the end of a level, in a seemingly safe area, and repeating the level was something they didn't wish to do.
Oh I see, yeah I do agree that failure in a level should be more about player informed decisions/actions and should not be about something that is out of the hand of the player. Since I did not have the knowledge that jumping from this platform can get me trapped, I felt a little bit cheated.
Wow this game has some of the best visuals and environmental story building in the jam! I loved the little flowers that would pop up when you get close, and the enemy designs were straight up terrifying! The relation to the theme was also cool, with the light bug who would wipe the screen of enemies.
The gameplay is a bit slow and bland, which is not an issue at all with story/art games like this. This only becomes an issue when the checkpoints aren't placed close enough to each other and the player has to walk long distances/ re-watch cutscenes when they die. The first time I go through the level, it's an amazing work of art, but if I die and have to replay a big chunk of the level it turns into a tediously slow walking/jumping simulator.
The part I quit the game was when I jumped into a seemingly safe area which left me with no choice but to die since I couldn't make the jump, meaning I would have to replay the whole screen:
Overall though you did a great job of building up a world I would want to return to! The environment design and overall feel of the game is excellent!
Thank you so much for playing, and the kind words! That is an extremely valid point! Unfortunately I added the cutscenes near the end of the jam, and despite really wishing I could, didn't have time to implement checkpoints. If we ever continue working on it, I will remember your feedback and implement them right away! Thank you again for checking it out, it really means a lot! :)
