Very nice game, with a different concept than other games i have played so far,  I do really like it. The music was really nice, it gives an intense vibe !! The art style is also really cool.  At first i had a hard time figuring out what to do, but then i got it, silly me. Great job with the game 😄!!

Appreciate the feedback!

I love the atmosphere that your team achieved for this game. Super well done!

The core gameplay made sense at first, but I didn't understand why people were walking on top of the train and then into it. Then I read the instructions. That wasn't quite clear, but it made sense after reading lol. I think needing to spam press a button, especially spacebar felt a little out of place. Maybe just hold it? Or spam mouse click? Button spamming to achieve something isn't very accessibility friendly, so even for jams, it's nice to consider alternatives where possible.

I think I bugged the game out. I know the dialogue said something about only accepting 10 passengers per station, but I just kept accepting good tickets because I read there was a penalty for taking too long and also for rejecting good tickets. By the second station, I was full, and then the game just sat there in space for a few minutes. We went through another station but it left immediately... I guess because it was full? Unsure what was supposed to happen.

Perhaps if you intend the player to only accept a certain number of passengers per station, there should be some option to depart early? Maybe there was and I missed it? There were symbols and buttons in the upper left but I don't know what any of them did.

All that aside, the game was really cool. The music and art did a lot to carry and build the atmosphere, which I really appreciated. That kept my attention for most of the game because I wanted to know what was going to happen with all this build-up.

Well done team, this is still a really cool game even with some bugs. Congrats on making this in a week!

Developer

Definitely went back and forth on that button spamming, and it's good to keep in mind for next time! Was very interested in the difficulties you had with immersion - and will be extremely useful for when we get around to polishing this.

Very happy to see you enjoy the music and art for the game - hopefully we manage to maximize on it in the future. Thank you so much for the feedback!

This is a lovely take on the papers please concept with some extra stuff to make it more chaotic. Very nicely done!

Developer

Thanks, we appreciate your comment and feedback!

I liked the idea for the game, it has potential! However as others mentioned there are quite a few bugs, and personally I found myself not paying too much attention to passengers details and simply accepting/rejecting them quickly. I certainly felt overwhelmed with the amount of passengers - which could translate to chaos and fit the theme of the jam, so well done!

The art is really great! Music, sound plus art created a very sci-fi vibe. So enjoyable.

some feedback:

I don't see there is any punishment only handling 1 queue. Maybe adding angry passengers in another queue.

Would be great if there's shortcuts for accept/reject

Developer

The queues are definitely supposed to get more restless when taking too long/handling just one queue, but the restless passenger animations weren't really implemented, so it's not at all visible there.

The shortcut idea for accept/reject is great, will keep a note of it! Thanks for the feedback!

Literally kicked everybody who's illegal and felt good about it lol! Had so much fun playing it. One of the underrated gems in this jam. Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

You definitely got a certain kind of ending. :D It's always fun to see different people playing the game differently.

Thanks for the positive review!

Hey! I loved the game, the artsyle and the audio. Great job! I think the game might benefit from  having... more things to do, but regardless of that, i really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thanks! The game definitely needs a bit more makeup and shoe polish, but am glad you liked it.

I loved this! Pretty fun and original concept and a pretty good interpretation of the theme!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

I love Papers Please so this was a fun concept. I had a few issues with being unable to kick some people off the train, but enjoyed it anyway.

Great Job!

If you have another person and a controller available to plugin please check out my game!

Developer

Glad that it was still enjoyable for you despite the bugs! Thanks for the comment!

I like the twist on Paper Please - adding the panicky movement was a neat idea.
There's several flaws, though. Here's some:
As expected of a jam game, the game has some clunkiness (when there's too much passengers, some appear as if they're outside), some format of a tutorial should be present in game and not only in the description.
A major flaw is that my train got stuck, moving towards the first location. After finishing the first round of work, I just got softlocked.
I especially like the art on this one, along with the camera. It looks very nice, and the small camera movements add a lot.
Keep on fighting! :)

Developer

I've definitely noted that the transition between levels seems to be a regular problem, and the onboarding to the train isn't working super well. Thanks for the feedback, grateful for the appreciative comment!

It's not really very chaotic or anything, but it works decently as a Papers Please! clone. However, it's missing a lot of the things that made that game good at what it did (the emotional weight of the story, the constant reminders of the protagonist's life, shocks, etc), so it's like you took the basic premise of papers please and never expanded on it. The stuff with kicking out illegal passengers is a good expansion though but it just doesn't do enough and the interaction doesn't add any fun.

It does the job, the visuals are quite pretty, but it doesn't really capture the theme (the turmoil isn't chaotic, the multitasking isn't very chaotic when it boils down to just hitting a button when something isn't very obviously wrong) and the gameplay just isn't there.

No punches pulled! but I understand there was a lacking in execution when it comes to our entry - this didn't help with getting across the differences we wanted to establish between Papers Please, and our game. Hopefully, we get to do that soon with a more polished version.
Thanks for the feedback, all noted!

Loved the game! Will play again!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Appreciate it!

Wow! This game looks very promising! There's a bit too much time for tickets check and the crowd is not actually that chaotic, but overall atmosphere and feel of the game is amazing. If there's going to be full version I will definitely play it.

Developer

Am glad you enjoyed some elements of the game. Something to add (need to edit the descript there, is that we added other definitions of chaos in the game:

1) Disorder and confusion: Chaotic crowds/multitasking within cramp places.

2) Emotional turmoil as you have to make moral decisions (which adds to the multitask is supposed to slow the player down to some extent, which is hard to deal with within an "adequate" time limit.

3) The chaos that occurs during the creation of a black hole.

Hope that helps nudge the theme rating in the right direction! :D

Submitted

Don't worry, I already rated and your game fits the theme perfectly! :)

When I said "crowd is not actually that chaotic", I meant that usually you expect to see people almost fighting, rather than standing in straight line when black hole is about to consume entire station. I understand this is gamejam and time is limited, but if you will expand and develop a full game would be really cool to see some really mad crowd. These are just my thoughts and I hope it can inspire you somehow

I think you are aware with some of the issues with the gameplay as mentioned in the comments so I won't dwell on that. But I will say, this game is overflowing with flavour. I really love the concept of the game and could see me wanting to play something like this in long format. The atmosphere and story you created was fantastic. Overall,  if you could iron out some of the minor issues with the gameplay then you are onto a winner. Great work guys and well done for submitting.

Developer

Thanks! We wanted to do a combination of a fast-paced "Papers, Please", while adding in some chaos-specific details.

Am glad you could see some of its potential despite how it is at the moment!

Cool little game, one thing is that at the second station there was something in the way so I could only see 1/5 of my screen.

Developer

Thanks! could you describe what that was? I'd like to know so I can tell you if it's a bug or a feature. :p

Submitted

I could only see half of one waiting line and couldn't see the UI, if it's a bugg prob something went wrong in the transition to a new station.

Submitted(+1)

A nice game. I tried to finish the game but unfortunately encountered some kind of problem that stopped me from progressing. (Fyr: the train didn't move right after I departed the second station)

I have some critiques:

  1. The pace - The time given for the player to check tickets at the space station is a bit long. AFAIK, the player may want to take about 13-17 people per station to avoid overflowing the train. And normally I took less than 1 second to identify whether the ticket is fake. But because afk-ing is not allowed per rules, I need to slow down the speed of checking people's tickets. Which is kinda against the "Chaos".
  2. Waiting time between playable levels - The "Arrive" counter is not so accurate so sometimes I don't know whether the game is bugged or I just need to wait until further instructions.
  3. Interactions while traveling - Throwing illegal people out is not enough imo.

To conclude, the concept of the game is good because players are supposed to multitask. Therefore It would be better to increase the pace.

Developer

Hey! Completely agree with everything that you mentioned, will have to check out how that bug came about.

We unfortunately didn't get to test/balance our game too much, so there were issues like what you described. We did want to add more content, but since we ran out of time before we could complete the tutorial, and all extra scope stuff didn't happen either.

Thanks for the detailed feedback on our entry!

Submitted(+1)

just by reading the instructions it sounds very chaotic lol

Developer

I love this. Thanks for the snark, haha!

its very atmospheric and the pixel art is good but i didnt really understand what to do

Developer

Thanks for the compliments on atmosphere and the art!
Please do check out the instructions on the game page - it helps with figuring out how to play the game.
