I loved the art and music! Cool story. (I especially loved the yoyo animation)

How does you game fit the theme?
Your character will meet the locals of New Salem, and will have to determine what is real and what is not.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I made all assets -- art, music, etc. -- from scratch. I created the font used in the game in a prior project. The vast majority of code is from scratch; I drew on youtube tutorials for some code, and credited sources in-line.

Nice game! The art is great, the story is interesting and the whole thing is very unique.
A game whose story is about getting scammed lol oh dear.
As an experience to tell the story this game definitely works; that much is I think something excellent. Although the purpose is minimum the coins really make the experience of getting scammed that more real.
The music is cute and fits the atmosphere - the fact that you created it from scratch is amazing, even if it is only 8-bit; or at least that's how I feel because I couldn't fit the time to compose in the 7 days of the jam XP
The character sprite I must say is very cute; I love it. You may want to keep this in mind though for future projects: pixel sizes should be constant throughout your game. In your game the pixels for the items are much bigger than say the players and then the buildings have even smaller pixels. Furthermore it seems like you did not scale the sprites by whole numbers. As a result... well... some pixels turn into rectangles. Inconsistent pixel sizes make your otherwise beautiful pixel art looks like a jumbled frankenstein mess XP
This game is awesome! You should expand it out with more towns and whatnot. I kinda spaced out what I was doing and just started buying everything, but I still had fun. My only advice is that its a little slow paced (which is fine if you keep expanding!) :D
Haha, when I was walking around the shops buying everything I did think I'd run out of money. But I figured there was going to be a way of getting back some money to keep doing tasks. You fooled me well!
Well done. The story is good and the graphics are cute.
My suggestions:
- I think diagonal movement would be good for this game. Just 4 directions is weird when you're not constrained to a grid.
- When you walk to the edge of the playing area, there are just invisible walls. I'd probably prefer it if there was a more physical reason why you can't walk further, like some mountains/forest to the north and the river to the south, for example.
- The town itself, which is the focus of the game, is not very interesting. I'd add some more houses North and South, or maybe some more features, just for decoration.
But the game itself is fun! Well done!
I liked the art and audio quite a lot. Really nice entry good job!
Great Work, I Rated it!, can you help me with my jam entry?, It would really make my day if you rate mine too!
Thanks in advance!
