Extra Information about your game
We made this in RPG Maker VX Ace using mostly default assets. :)

EDIT: This was made with possibly less than 10 minutes left to make the contest entry, while being completely clueless on what to make at the same time. The lines said by the characters are impromptu and random, due to lack of time. Please do not take anything seemingly "insulting" the wrong way. We are Sucky Games Studios after all, but next time we will be careful regarding this issue. Next time we will make Drifty and Tea awesome characters instead, should we make another "meta" game again. Thank you all for the feedback.

Someone pointed out that this game cannot be played without the VX Ace RTP. Please download it here: https://dl.degica.com/rpgmakerweb/run-time-packages/RPGVXAce_RTP.zip

What themes did your game use?
Purple, Not What It Seems.

I don't think it was meant to be a dig at the hosts, but it kind of felt like that at first. Anyways, it was a game! And it made it under timeline so there we go! There is a bit of wise advice to all at the end for sure. Fun to see Hawk and Studio Blue in there too.

Appreciate your feedback and following! :)

Having the hosts call themselves "idiots" in the game rubbed me wrong. That aside, this game is a quick, silly romp, and having the judges be the game's main characters is a fun concept. Naturally there are some rough spots, such as it not being clear that the initial random battles are unfair and should be avoided. The random text pauses were kinda unpleasant, too; I would have preferred to be able to button spam through them if I wanted. Skills are not customized to fit the game, but this is a game that was made at the last minute so it makes sense I guess?

Anyway, glad you were able to get your entry submitted in time!

Thanks for the feedback :)

I liked the start. I had the same feeling about the deadline. Your game is a conglomerate of funny, super strange and interesting ideas.

Thank you. Made my day. :)

Ok, yeah. Downloading' the RTP works.  You were true to your games cause it feels super rushed, but I can say there was a special charm to it, i like the characters. The downside is that this game would only work for the community, which if it was your goal, then its fine. Super short and enjoyable.

So happy the game experiences seem to come out to others as exactly what I wanted it to be: super short and enjoyable. Yes,  this is everything I wanted my game to be: a game meant for the community. Although I made this in less than three hours, I probably actually made this in less than 30-40 minutes in some sense... maybe even less than 15 minutes. I'm not sure. I ended up procrastinating and even took a meal break during the 3-hour limit. If I remember correctly, when I returned, there was only less than an hour or two left.

You might have noticed a change in the time remaining mentioned by one of the characters... that time left the character said is indeed the actual time remaining to finish my game and submit it. :)

Everything in this game is made under the time pressure of not knowing what to put or make...  so everything is completely improvised and intuitive. It was an interesting situation; I had to just be myself and trust myself, under the time pressure. I enjoyed the process. Glad others also think there is a special charm to both the game and the characters. Very happy, and I so appreciate your feedback!

Is it missing the assets? I downloaded it but it won't run because it doesn't have the VXAce RTP graphics

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

All of the RTP like tiles and images used is included in-game. I copied and pasted all of the used RTP into the game's main folders. Was worried the finished product lacks the /Graphics folder, but tested it on other computers and it ran fine. It seems the /Graphics folder could be a part of the encrypted game file thus it not showing. If other computers can load the custom title screen image, then it looks like the /Graphics folder is actually still intact. But maybe there is more to it that I don't know.  Sorry. Here is the download link to RTP and thank you for pointing it out: https://dl.degica.com/rpgmakerweb/run-time-packages/RPGVXAce_RTP.zip Let me know if it works fine this time.

Yes it works.

Thank you for telling me! :)

Yeah it's weird. I even re-downloaded it but it had no graphics folder. It worked tho once I installed the RTP. And... I'm glad I finally got it to work. Definitely goes to show what you can make with RTP graphics (and a few screenshots of webpages) in a limited time and have it be entertaining.

[edit: my favorite part tho is the first time the game opens the menu. I checked the items, took the item twice and got a Game Over without even saving. lol]

Thank you so much for playing the game! Made me so happy you gave it a try! Yeah, I've seen other VX Ace games have a Graphics folder, so I was worried about mine not having one. So I'm grateful you confirmed it with me. Very grateful you brought it up because I really did not know that I still needed to provide the RTP even though all the RTP graphics (including tiles) are already copied over to the main game files. This is what I don't understand, but now I know I can do further checking and figure out why.

I am surprised about how the game turned out within the limited time. Everything was me rushing due to the lack of time, and still don't know what to make. So everything is improvised and intuitive. It's amazing within 8 minutes I can pull off something very enjoyable. The battle is also everything what I wanted it to be, including the Level 98 thing, and it was done by accident. I'm really proud of this project and enjoyed the process.  I did major game testing for this game multiple times after I submitted it, and discovered that almost everything is exactly (or even better than) of what I wanted it to be. The only thing I am unhappy with is that I didn't make it possible to go back to the room where there are enemy encounters, from the map right after it. Other than that, everything is perfect!... and all done by accident. :)

It goes to show that even with a major time limit and completely not knowing what to make, a good game can be possible. Very grateful for all the positive reviews and the experience, and thanks for being a part of it! :)
