Starting off, the overall atmosphere of the game in terms of visuals is incredible 5/5 for that. This could have been further on reinforced with some slick sound effects and soundtrack. The resolution for my computer was a bit off so I couldn't really read the menu/pause menu properly. The jumping was a lil bit frustrating at times, this definitely needs revising. The speed of the character whilst sprinting was a bit too exaggerated as well. Also, I was really confused of a certain level where some fire balls would not stop following me.
Some good points:
The visuals (shader I assuume) are on point and I would say don't restrict yourself with simple platformer if you plan to continue working on the game, as I do think it has potential. I loved the subtle environment integrated checkpoint system. Overall I think the game for only a few weeks of works is incredible for what it is and what is trying to achieve with a few nitpicky features such as the jumping mainly which was not as 'controllable' and reliable as I personally hoped/wished and wanted more challenge whilst playing. I hope you continue with it.
Thank you for the comprehensive feedback!
Thought this was pretty cool. The concept of climbing a tower reminded me heavily of Lovecraft's work, an aspect I always thought would work as a video game. One complaint, the haphazard pile of blocks, the rubble-y one, it wasn't clear where you were supposed to go to climb up. I have no idea if I cheesed my way past it or not.
Oh yeah, that rubble section is kinda BS to be honest. We definitely should have made it easier and more straightforward.
Also, I appreciate your kind words!
The game was very challenging and difficult, but it was a satisfying win in the end, especially with the grappling hook~ :> Though I do have to report that there may need to be some limits with the grappling hook as I slung myself to the top of the tower with the first grapple haha~ >v< Either way, music & writing were great, maybe just some crisper designing of the platforming and movement next time, but the controls and abilities themselves were top notch~! :))
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you managed to beat it. :-)
I now see why everyone is so scared of death
Yes.
damn this game simply looks gorgeous
Thank you!
i played the game for like 20 mins and i really like it, although i would suggest you to add some coliders or you could say invisible borders so that the player would not get lost in the open and not roam around hoping he would find some kind of hidden ester egg.
Oh, but there are hidden easter eggs!
Pretty awesome, the shader/aesthetic was really nice- although there were still a few times I jumped into the void :)
The platforming was a little brutal, especially those very first jumps; but the game was integriging to keep me trying over (and over) again until I got it :D
I'm glad you liked it. We tried very hard to perfect the shader.
As for the platforming, it is a bit harder than we intended, haha.
The game looks beautiful. Congrats!
In terms of visuals I would suggest removing the small noise from the wall when the are further away, most of the times I though they were stars in the sky. maybe populate the sky with such starts. I don't think this affects the gameplay that much though ;)
Sometime the progression can be a bit too challenging, particularly in the first platforms. I'd suggestion easing a bit the learning curve in the first couple minutes of gameplay.
The sound effects are on point!
Everything works together very nicely and the feels very coherent even after 20 minutes.
Great job!
Thanks for your feedback! :-)
Great work! I agree with the other comment that the platforming is too frustrating, but the visuals are great.
I feel that your game could fit in Rule A though. Maybe I'm wrong but I felt that only white and black pixels were displayed.
Thanks for the kind words! We originally planned to make the game fit in the 1bit style. However that ended up affecting the visual design for the worse. You don't really notice it, but there's a lot of greys used with the edge detection shader, especially to convey distance and "fog"
Amazing visuals & the scale is incredible. It runs great & controls great. I did struggle with the first person platforming. maybe grapple from the start for people who can't jump?
Thank you, we appreciate your feedback. :-)
As for the platforming difficulty, we didn't want the game to be too hard, but it was kind of difficult to gauge the difficulty because we got so good at the levels as we were testing them, haha.
