I honestly got really confused but hey I am not good with rpgs anyway controls is something I would work on though killing that goblin was almost impossible

Developer

Thanks for playing and your feedback. We never did find the sweet spot for combat.

Good job! A very complete game with different locations and moods. We can immediately see the connections between the different quests, so, we're not completely lost. The UI is also pretty clear. The feeling of unlimited possibilities when you get your first sword and you find out you can cut through bushes is very rewarding, a classical but solid mechanic in top-down action RPG games.

Could largely improve visual feedbacks when performing actions (hitting enemies, picking up things...) though.

I played for 25 minutes but I didn't get far enough to see the connection with the game jam theme. Will you post a solution?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and your feedback. We're happy you had that same feeling of the world opening up when you first get the sword. As for the theme, it's a subtle connection. Many of the NPCs tell you lies and half truths. Even some of the game mechanics themselves are lying to you. We may make a video walkthrough at some point but we want people to experience it for themselves, if possible.

Was it made with Unity, GameMaker, or something else ?

Developer

Made in Unity. Pixel art created in Gimp.

I love top down RPGs. Excellent work for a game jam. But I agree with the music. :-)

Developer

Thank you for playing, and your feedback! We love them too, and hope that showed in the final submission.

I liked the game, but the music could be more lively, to pass the time playing the game

Great Audio and alot of content for a 7 day game! im pretty amazed that you did it alone! well done!

However, for contructive feedback, the game has alot to polish in terms of visuals and graphics, which i strongly believe your future games will only get better! <3

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback. This wasn't a solo effort, we had a small team working on it. Still, we're quite happy with what we accomplished in a single week.

There's a lot of stuff in this game for a game jam so good job. I unfortunately wasnt able to find the third key and just gave up. Good job though! Im guessing the ending has to do with the theme because right now it doesnt fit it at all...

Developer

Thank you for playing, and your feedback. As for the theme, it's a more subtle approach. Many of the characters are lying, misinformed, or telling half-truths. Even some of the basic mechanics are lying to you.

you really put a lot of content into this game. congrats on that!

there are stuff to improve but you can't do them all in a week all by yourself so you have chosen the content and i believe it is good.

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback. There's plenty we would have loved to keep working on, but the fun of the Jam is the time limit and making the best you can with that deadline.

What a large world! I didn't have time to finish the whole playthrough, but the amount of work that you put into this game really REALLY shows. Congrats on your entry!

Some critical feedback:

  1. Full-screen option would be good for immersion
  2. Work on your font choices and cohesion (e.g. your logo and in-game art is pixel art, but your font looks like a very crisp sans-serif.
  3. Music crossfading would be good throughout the game -- from menu-to-game and from one sound zone to another. Your music was absolutely fantastic, and adding some cross-fading will allow it to draw players further into your crafted world.
  4. Control onboarding would be good, but this is fine for a game jam where people expect WSAD. I like that the player started in a bare room where they could figure this out by trial-and-error.
  5. Art style looks nice -- would perhaps add shadows below the characters.
  6. Work on your UI placement. You need a larger uniform boundary from the endges of the screen to have better visual harmony
  7. Make characters stop moving when you talk to them

Overall, I loved the experience of playing this game. Cute art and funny sound effects (PERFECT voice acting. Laughed out loud some times). Great sword animation. Reminds me of GBC Zelda games. Funny bits you put in (Lora Craft).

Congrats on your entry!

Really interesting world with lots of characters and everywhere I went was different. Very cool experience and music as well. The tiles were clipping a little at the border but other than that it was fine <3

Developer

Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed the experience.

Cool game! I love RPG style

Developer

Thank you! Many of the team love that style, and you may notice subtle references to those types of games in ours.

Wow you made many  things ! try to keep the same level of quality between graphics because somes are well made and others seem to be made fast .

Have a nice day and please try my game too :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and your feedback. The disparity in art was due to more than one team member contributing to artwork. We thought it ended up looking silly, and figured it matched the silly tone of the game.

The intro-music really hypes the game well! You've got so much content here too, I'm really impressed what you guys have pulled off in such a short time! It was hilarous when I got completely ruined by a turkey in the beginning haha Congrats all :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and the feedback. Although there seems to be some confusion. We didn't add any turkeys to the game. Perhaps you're thinking of those horrible Gobblins from the Ferocious Forest?
