I really like the art style. As you mentioned, it will be great to see some narrative like what is the player doing and why they are doing certain action. This game will be better if people can see how and why climate change is associated with the game, like using narrative or something.
Hi hlim! Thanks for the feedback and yes I agree narrative will definitely help with the game's immersion and explain why it fits this game jam's theme.
There is no explanation what is going on, but still a very good start. The character design is very nice. However, I didn't like the animation of the fox guy. There is too much motion which is distracting. Besides I don't understand what the astronaut is doing there, and why it is jumping higher than the fox. Finally there is no relation to the theme so far.
Hi Magn! Appreciate the feedback and your liking to the character design though we might have to change the art style due to the scope of this project unfortunately :( If you can tell us specifically what animation you did not like for the fox guy or if its an overall thing that would be greatly appreciated. For the team, the jumping animation in this prototype was a bit too much but we have fixed it where the animation was not as long as this one, hopefully you can test it out for this sprint to see if it has improved. The astronaut and all other assets other than the fox guy, background, dialogue, and prompts in this prototype are just placeholders. Our art team is working hard to try to push the assets before the final sprint and our narrative team is still fleshing out the dialogue and story for this game to better fit this jam's theme so for now we are just taking care of level design and mechanics, hopefully you can understand.
The art style is so fun, I'd really like to see where the story of this game goes. The character switching was a little sudden and I think a reason for it would help the player understand what they are doing in the game
Hi Denluey! Thank you for the feedback yes I do agree the switching was sudden but we will build a narrative around that explaining the transformation, a lot was going on the second sprint T_T
I love the gameplay and art style so much! Wish that the theme of "change the story" will be implemented more through both narrative and level design later!
Hi Chloe! Thanks for the feedback and appreciate that you enjoyed the prototype even though there were no narrative elements that provide any clarity as to what is going on haha. We aim to showcase the narrative so that it fits the theme of "change the story"
Hello again, I got to check out your prototype and I like what you have so far. The art style is cute, but I still don't understand what the tiki guys and the space teddy bear. Are they placeholders? The gameplay looks fun, and aside from there being a bit too much gravity on the jump and some weird stuff with the background of the background, I really enjoyed your game and played it twice. I still can't wait to see what comes next.
I'm really glad you liked our game! The tiki guys and the bear are both placeholders, and that goes for the tiles as well for our prototype. We wanted to focus on the mechanics and the level design mostly for now. If possible do you mind explaining what you mean by weird stuff with the background?
Sure thing, so on the first level the background cuts off near the end of the level. While on the second level, in the part where you push the boxes, I noticed that the background randomly jumps to showing the claw-like arm, which then disappears if I walk a few steps back. I went and took some screenshots to show the areas I'm referring to. I still enjoyed your game either way and it was mostly just something I noticed.
