Developer Name
Florence vs. Vapora

Short Promo Blurb
Become the princess of the Jungle and save the land from evil influence of the mythical Vapora.

Full Description
Florence vs Vapora is an environment saving platforming experience. Florence is the character the player plays as. She cares for nature and wishes to correct the damage, done by Vapora, to the jungle the game takes place in. Vapora is the unseen antagonist representative of all the companies and factories that produce toxic waste and damage the ecosystem without care. It’s a story of good vs evil. Each level is able to be completed when a gas leak is patched up by Florence. Only one is required to continue but putting in more effort to find all the leaks will help the environment even more. Along the way, players must rely on the animals in the jungle to help them reach cross platforms or open up new areas to explore. Players must collect flowers to heal the animals in order to unlock their powers.

Artistic Statement / Use of Theme(s)
Florence vs. Vapora is a story about how industrial byproducts and excess gas leaks negatively affect the flora and fauna in remote parts of the world. Our intention was to display the evil not as an onscreen villain, but more as a personification of a concept.

Development Summary
Our team started off with a good foot and strong ideations for potential game ideas. We ended up agreeing on the basic concept of Florence vs Vapora. The initial concept was to have a branching level map that gave the players different paths they could take through the game. But, when we hit the production phase, between a mix of other life responsibilities and extreme weather conditions, our production timeline was heavily impacted. With this our levels got cut into a linear structure. We had 9 people on the team and due to some unfortunate or just inconvenient timings of other life happenings, there were a few members whose participation was severely limited.

Release Plan
Currently our game is still stuck in an early development state, and enough members of the team are passionate about finishing our initial idea. This would include finishing art and animations, sound design and music, and expanded story implementation.

I like the overall concept, narrative, and unique level design. Your team completed a lot of levels in such a short period of time. I kind of wish that instead of the amount of levels with increase difficulties, polishing the art and overall game experience was prioritized as now there still seems to be some placeholders and improvements that can be done in terms of art cohesiveness of this cute game. Additionally, I like the mechanics on top of the 2D platforming, I just wish that there is a tutorial or controls sheet to make the process more clear, as now I get confused as to things like: why am I able to jump this high this time but not last time? What does the block that says "E to interact" does other than making my hands green? etc.

The game could definitely use some more tutorialization to direct the player on what to do. I also ran into a but where I started spawning outside of the level.
