Delicate Destruction
Full Description
God Storm is an open destruction simulator with an emphasis on exploration. Players will explore the city of Los Diablos, encounter various climate catastrophes, and will learn how to help prevent them.
Play as Katai, a protective weather Goddess who's awoken from centuries of slumber, by rampant climate disasters. Meet elemental spirits to gain larger than life powers and learn about how the disasters are affecting their homes. Only through delicate destruction, can Katai show humans the errors of their ways, and nudge society towards a better future.

Artistic Statement / Use of Theme(s)
The artistic inspiration for our game drew inspiration from several different sources. When creating God Storm we looked to combine mythology with the contemporary world. This combination gave us a unique setting for us to tell our story.
We also took an unconventional approach towards the gameplay of God Storm. In the game, the player will be granted the ability to destroy the environment around them. Throughout the course of the game, the player will learn how certain man-made structures hurt the environment negatively. The player will receive positive and negative feedback for how they choose to interact with the environment.
Development Summary
The development of God Storm proved to be a massive undertaking for our team. We had to scrape many features from our original vision of the game, and even still, we struggled to implement all of the base functionalities by the end of the deadline. While we had originally planned for the player to explore multiple environments, we had to limit it to just one, and many actions that the player could take had to be removed. The version of the game we managed to put together for this submission contains the base gameplay functionality of the game, but is missing many details and additional features. Our team intends to add further content and polish to the game over the course of the next few weeks.
The God Storm Team consists of nine people. Three programmers, three artists, two game designers, and one audio designer.
Release Plan
The submission of the game for this jam serves as our “proof of concept” or “beta”. Over the coming weeks, our team will be building upon this foundation. We plan to implement various “events” throughout the world. Each event will showcase how human actions affect the environment, and will be paid with NPC’s to teach the player about what is happening.

There is some potential here but it was super unfocused. As people mentioned the resolution was super zoomed in so its hard to navigate, and the player character is behind a building when the game starts so its hard to even tell who your playing as at first. The element abilities seemed like the start of something cool but I only found out they existed through sheer accident and you couldn't do anything with them. In general there is nothing really to do in the game except walk around aimlessly and transform into elemental storms for no reason. It was called a destruction simulator but there was nothing to destroy.
Hi! The atmosphere of the game is amazing and I love the game start page. However, the resolution of the game did cover some details and I am not sure if my character is supposed to move on their own but I couldn't control her movement at times. Also, it would have been cool to see hints about her backstory and use a "show-not-tell" approach to writing the description of the game. This is a very strong foundation for creating a wonderful game eventually.
So I went into more detail on discord, but there's a lot of issues I had with this submission. You mentioned that you ran out of time, which I understand, but there's a lot about this game that needs to be fixed. The main issue currently is with the resolution. For some reason, the screen is zoomed which makes it impossible to read the text upon starting the game and makes it harder to figure out where I'm going while I'm playing the game. I also don't really understand what I was supposed to be doing as all could really do was go around destroying buildings. I understand if you had issues with developing, and I appreciate that you're going to add more content and polish the game. I like your idea and there's a lot of potential. I can see you guys are passionate behind this game, and hope to one day see God Storm become the game you wanted to create.
The game resolution or something was off so it was very small in the browser and looked like it was only showing the center of the screen that it was supposed to show. This means that I am writing this having only played it like that. The main menu is bugged, only the start game button works (not options or quit), and if I clicked anywhere else on that menu (i.e. options or just the background), the start button was then unresponsive and I had to restart the game. There was also some white block that looked like it was supposed to be a button on the menu. In the game, I liked the music and the building art, but some of the environment looked off and blurry, such as a gray, blurry, drawing on the right side that I could not identify. The player sprite is a different style than the buildings, and I think it needs some more work in general. The element abilities were in 3D and a completely different style than the rest of the game, so that needs attention. I could not figure out how to do anything in the game because of the screen cut-off, so I could not test the game, sorry. Also, as Magn said, I could walk through buildings, not sure if that was intentional. I like the idea of the game (I only know from reading the description), so I think there is a lot of potential.
I could walk through the buildings. Maybe some work remains... Besides the game was hard to start, and the buttons did not respond. Anyway, looks like a good start on a beautiful game.
