Nice simple shooter!
Really liked the game boy visuals,  and the wacky idea of killing zombies by making them drunk, there is almost a symbology for achoolism here but I cant quite put it into works haha.
And the upgrades are a welcome addition for variety. The only downsides are that the game might be too short (which makes sense, its a jam game), and when the enemies get to the counter they seems to almost bug out and keep "rubberbanding", and even after killed it seemed they would take 1 hit point away.

But overall its a pretty cool game, if it where to be expended with more levels, upgrades and maybe making it so the zombies did something different when at the counter, the game would be perfect. Congrats!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I plan to make it longer and add more upgrades. The rubber band mechanic was just a quick fix because, of course, the last thing I realized before the jam ended was how to implement the monsters attacking the player.

If someone told me this was a leaked Game Boy game and handed it to me to play, I would believe it! Haha! It's very well made and captures the retro atmosphere perfectly; I imagine you must be very proud of what you've accomplished! :) However, I have two bug reports:

  1. During the first battle, if you press any button other than Z or X while the zombie is close to the counter, no buttons will respond anymore. Even though the functionality of (A) and (B) has been preserved, it might be wise to replace them with Z and X for better functionality, or assign movement to the directional arrows and keep A and B as their respective buttons.
  2. If you get hit while attacking with Z from near the counter, the enemies respawn two blocks away from the counter, making it completely defenseless against attacks. What I did to avoid this was to always attack the zombies on the bottom line, accept the damage, and then face the next wave up, dowm and down, always avoiding the middle line, which is the buggiest.

Overall, it was a great short experience. Thanks for sharing!

I truly appreciate you taking the time to list out those bug reports to me. I’m glad you liked it!

Would have loved to play something like this on a Gameboy. The art is great and the coctail upgrades are a nice addition. I had some issues with key presses registeing, but still managed to finish the game. Just wished the game was longer. Awesome entry to the jam!

thanks :) hopefully I’ll finish up a much longer version soon.

The art for this is so freakin' cute! Such a unique concept for a Cosmic Horror Game! Made me nostalgic for playing old Pokémon games on the Gameboy.
