Nice entry. The graphics are solid, the movement feels a bit unresponsive, the animation itself how it decelerates into the square feels a little slow. The combat was ok too but hard to tell exactly all that is happening, I lost my sanity many times not really understanding how. It's also brutally punishing, you really have to plan out your trip because there's not enough items to keep you sane enough for all the combat. I think I glitched too because I couldn't get to the 3rd floor. I was hoping to see the final boss!

I hope you keep working on this one, it has a lot of potential!

Enter to unlock the door should ALSO open the door.

A solid little game.

I found the controls a little clunky. I don't rate down for this because I am well known for my clunky controls.

I quickly was "slain" (or driven insane, whichever) by my first fight.

Good visuals. I liked it.

Maybe not have it be "test_build_01.exe".

Seems sus.

There is more to meet than eyes in this. Real graphics and scary sound design. However I didn't get very far because I would lose Sanity way too fast. I didn't understand if it was my abilities or if it was the damage the enemies were giving. All abilities are of increasing power ?

Really well put together.  Very slimy looking :)
I was impressed by the polish of it all, though I found the controls a but ... sticky I guess.
The game itself looks much more intriguing than the cover image that is shown, so I think it might be good to just use a screenshot for the cover...

The game is brutal! I only reached level 2 and couldn't avoid enough fights, I think, to get furhter...

But I liked general aestetic of it, though controls is where most of the issues I encountered. Having beautiful control theme drawn on screen with no ability to actually click it is a crime! Wanted to press it so much. Would be also nice if we could see tooltips of the abilities in combat too.

There were some bugs with combat not ending... I think I just was pressing button too fast and it bugged out before it started. But I am also was terrible in general. Spend some time - didn't get far enough :(

Nice graphics and sound. Controls is a bit un-responsive, combat works ok I think, hard to understand the outcome of attacks.

Power got down to -1 but had sanity left, I could not attack in combat, was stuck there.

Would have been nice to play this without these bugs, it looks promising.

Unfortunately the stairs from the 2nd floor to the 3rd won't trigger (I tried twice), when I walk onto them then I'm just stuck there.

I'm saying unfortunately because otherwise the game is pretty great. Movement is definitely too slow but in the case of this game the level design is pretty tight so it's no big deal. I guess it also prevents you from running into holes ;) . It's tight and great, what I like to do is to bring the red key from the first floor to the 2nd so I can bypass part of it, I actually love that it's possible to do that. The game looks great and ambitious, one thing I really like is that the 2D potions fit perfectly inside environment. The fast combat works well and the game delivers some very good resource managment, trying to avoid some enemies instead of bumping into all of them is no luxury, I like trying to find the best route, and in the same time in practice you can't really avoid all of them which is good too. I like that getting the new spells is optional, this is more open which is good.

Sometimes you can get stuck in combat (there's no enemy, and I'm almost sure it's not only visual, you can attack but it effectively does nothing) but I think that only happens if you mash the buttons so it's far from unplayable anyway.

Overall this is a very cool game, I'll play up to the end if you ever get to fix the stairs bug.

Thanks so much for the thorough playthrough! Getting past level 2 is certainly a noteworthy accolade as the game is quite a bit more punishing than we'd expected! We will be sure to upload a patched version with access to the 3rd level and the end of game :)

Great visuals overall, pleasantly surprised by the transition to the separate RPG-like combat screen. Sound and presentation all feel quite polished.

I think it would feel better to increase turning and movement speed substantially. I’m guessing there’s no combat rewards and it’s better to avoid a fight if you can manage to?

Also had my run ended by the empty battle screen bug, unfortunately, but well done otherwise.

Apologies for the bug, but glad you were still able to enjoy it! Insofar as combat, absorbing enemies was meant to be another way of gaining new spells however we fell short of time for implementation, so definitely outrun them if you can!

Entertaining entry! Nice idea with the picking up of abilities.

Encountered a bug where if the mob moved as you went into its tile, you'd go into a blank combat with no opponents that you couldn't leave and you have to restart.

Developer

Thanks for playing! That is definitely something we'll look to patch in future builds, and amazingly also something we only managed to notice within minutes of the submission deadline   (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜

Good job! I liked the direction you took the art and abilities.

Thanks for playing! Our game designer really went ham on that, happy that came across :)
