The music really fits the game well, with the nice chill setting in the beginning then the rougher guitar track when things switch up. The plot twist is really cool and innovative - I love how it starts off as a city building game then suddenly turns into a tower defense.
(also like the "A nice friendly snowman!" tooltip when you buy snowmen... ha.)
Might be cool if you could sell buildings, so you could replace houses with banks or rework your setup as you progress. Also slightly strange that there are non functional houses already on the map when you start which look about the same as the money-generating ones you place.
Overall, great game! Pretty enjoyable, good job :) Also the little snowman hats that fall on the ground for a little bit when they die is a nice effect, and the extra dialog when you keep clicking after winning lol.
Yeah, @tentras did the art and the cool hat effects! All him! Thanks for playing and enjoying our little game! Selling buildings was in the talk but thought it might take away from the space aspect.
This game bamboozled me so much haha here's the VOD! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1117396919
Thanks for playing! I just loved your reactions! 😂
This was quite fun, took me about 3-4 tries but I eventually beat it, it looks like there is no penalty if you can’t sustain your factories, so I just saved up and bought everything at once, allowing me to have 2-3 extra factories in place of what would normally be a bank.
The sudden turn to tower defense was a nice surprise, although I partially suspected it due to the health bar, if you’re aiming for having as big a surprise as possible then hiding it until the building takes damage might help
Not sure how hard your artist worked but if they were lazing around toward the end of things it would have been neat if they drew up a defrosted version of the map to show after winning the game.
Nice work!
Overall, I think it needs a bit of polish. I started the game by putting houses in the center of town, because that looks the most aesthetically pleasing, only for that to lead to my demise as a snowman huddled on the far end of the road away from my factories and since I can't replace the house, the snowman was unmeltable. I like how it goes from an idle game to a tower defense. Cool!
For theme, I think it absolutely fits. The game takes place in a tiny town, and the gameplay is also centered around the town. (also big ups for the snowman)
I can't say I had a super large amount of fun though, idle games in general just don't do it for me, though I was definitely excited when it turned into a tower defense. That said, the snowman became unstoppable when it just hugged my houses in the center of town.
For innovation, I liked the genre shift when you place a factory, but other than that it's essentially two skeletons of different genres. It doesn't really expand upon the idle or tower defense genre in any ways other than combining the two. That said, by combining the two, it was still really innovative.
I loved the graphics. It's a nice cozy tiny town.
The music was nice! I don't have much in the way of feedback for that.
Again, not much in the way of humor, though I don't see any way you could add that without it being out of place. I guess it is pretty funny that the snowmen have turned evil.
The mood doesn't stand out, but I like the coziness of the town.
Well done!
Thanks for the in depth feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Great graphics! Loved the use of particle effects. Very creative way to make a tower defense!
Nice game! Got a bit boring lategame, but the end text was funny and it was interesting seeing if you were going to win
Thanks for playing! We arbitrarily planned 10 waves at the beginning. And never ended up cutting it to fit our scope/content. Maybe 6 or 7 would have been the sweet spot.
Really nice game. I enjoyed playing it, and the dialogue at the end was hilarious! Good submission
I'm really surprised you beat it! Thanks for playing! Especially all the way through! :)
