I usually don't like games where you can shoot as fast as you want because I mash too hard and hurt my fingers lol . But here the variation in shoot noise makes shooting fun.
Also like the simple retro vector style graphics and how the ship controls :D.
The movement in this is soooo fun, at first I felt like I had absolutely no control over the spaceship but slowly I began to anticipate momentum, inertia and a bunch more physics words. I think a parallax background would be a cherry on top :P
Really fun game and I liked how crazy it can get if you don't plan your moves carefully. The floatiness makes you think about how you fly, and it really adds to the challenge. Great job!
Dawn thos ships starting near me and shooting me while I'm trying to understand what is my current situation!
This is nice! Can get pretty chaotic in seconds, and sure gives you a flush of adrenaline. It's a pretty solid entry, no doubt.
That said, I found a bug (looks like today I'm working as a bug finder XD) . When you restart, you start in hardcore mode with one life. Of course, if you don't wanna fix it you can always say that it's a metaphor for life - "A second chance is always harder than the first one." or something like that :P
Edit: Just found out that it isn't exactly that you start with one life, but with less lives. Now I restarted with 4 lives. And, well, when restarting I couldn't pass levels anymore. Destroyed the two planets, revealing the portal for next level, but couldn't enter... You may need to review how you're setting the variables on restart.
I looked into the two problems you found. I was able to fix the warp portal problem in this latest update. As far as the lives go, I couldn't replicate the problem, but I made a change that I believe fixes it. Will need some more playtesting!
I also adjusted the starting ships to spawn at the planets after half a second, which hopefully gives the player at least a moment to orient themselves.
The only problem that I know exists is that the game freezes occasionally. If you experienced that and can recall the situation when it happened, it would be super helpful if you could let me know.
Hey! I played again some more today. I played for about 3 times. Not much, but I think it was good enough to check some things.
The problem with the lives and portal seens to be gone, and the ajustment of the spawning of the ships fixed the problem that I had of being shot when I was trying to orienting myself just fine. I also didn't had problems with the game freezing.

Runs well in a browser.
No criticisms. Simple concept, well executed.
this is so much fun to play!
i absolutely love asteroids-esque physics. what a great submission! :)

Very fun physics : apple/10
Astroids on amiga 500 nostalgia <3

Thank you! Despite making the game, the "floatiness" still gives me a challenge as well! 😅
Good stuff! I like how adding the Gauntlet-style spawn point improves the classic Asteroids formula in a very simple way.
Thanks! 😁 It was fun to test this mash up.

For me it looks perfect now. Good job! :3
That's awesome to hear, thanks for taking the time to test that out!
