This is one of the best intros of all the ECTO games I’ve played so far. I love the premise.

This seems like a bug, unless I'm totally overlooking something, but I only have one ghost (besides grandad McSween), which was Angus. There's nothing else in the house to interact with besides the blinds and my two younger sisters (I thought one of them would turn out to be the second ghost, but no such luck). I've been wandering back and forth, up and down, and I'm stuck without seeing another ghost to catch.HINT told me the ghost is in the bedroom, but when I go there it’s just Flora and Effie, who tell me to go away. And there’s nothing else to interact with. OPEN BOX doesn’t work here either, so I must be missing something…
I also wanted catching the ghost to be more of a puzzle, like putting the food in the box to lure Angus into it. But this is a Petite Mort, so maybe that’s for a more developed version. I’d definitely play that!
Glad you’re enjoying so far!
To find the other ghost...
Have a look at Effie's hat, then take it off her.I’m an idiot…
Ah! I had begun with exploration, and went upstairs first, so by the time I was ghost hunting I’d forgotten about—and I guess didn’t notice—that suspicious description!I’m clearly still a greenhorn ghost hunter.
Thank you.
I’m still kinda stuck.

I saw the hat was a ghost/hiding one, but I can’t take or capture the hat/ghost. If I try to talk to Effie she tells me to go away, if I try to talk to the ghost it says I can’t because I’ve already captured it. (I haven’t.)
Hmm. Could you let me know the sequence of commands you tried? I’ll have a look at the code later for any possible bugs.
Sorry I don’t rightly remember. I’d already gotten the ghost downstairs, spoken to both girls and gone in around the house a few times thinking maybe I was wrong about the hat and thrown out a various commands to try and work out what might get the ghost to come out or be captured after seeing that it was definitely where it was in the comments. I’m not the best with parser. It’s possible I’m missing a really obvious command.
I really love the "old school" look of the game! And yes, I'd enjoy a longer version of this idea with more ghosts as well!
Thanks so much! I'm hoping to make a longer version soon.
Luv your games, Dee! I need a post-comp with a dozen more ghosts to get!
Thanks! Hoping to do just that!
fun theme and good guidance!
Thank you!
Very cute. You have a knack for conveying life-like characters (or in this case, some are dead-like? haha). I consider your time-based events evidence of more advanced skills. You even fit the Ghostbusters theme for this year. I wish there was one more ghost, but this is "La Petite Mort" after all. Congrats on a great entry.
So glad you enjoyed! I planned one more ghost but didn't have time - might make an extended version after the comp!
What a fun little game! I loved the old school font selection and the general vibe that felt both parser and not. This is a great example of a petite mort entry. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!
