The thumbnail caught my eye :) Like the simple graphics and it's cool this was made fully on mobile.

The game is fun. To me the difficulties felt reversed. Insane moves faster, but you have much more space in between blocks compared to newbie, so newbie had me more surrounded by blocks :)

Thanks for trying out the game! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yeah something is off with how Easy got generated. Noticeable on Medium aswell but not as much. I've been wanting to rework that python script for a while but hadn't had time unfortunately. It's up my list though and may be pushed in an update soon enough. ๐Ÿค—

I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Hi!

Fun little game. Liked graphics alot.  There was no music for me at insane level.  Im interested how did you do it on phone?

There was no music for me at insane level.

Oh that's odd! Tried it just now and everything seems to be working just fine for me. Would you mind try refreshing the page, or simply change difficulty/replay? The music for Insane is to good to miss out on!

Im interested how did you do it on phone?

This game is built using HTML/CSS & vanilla javascript. Some Python to generate the levels. There's some really great IDE's available on mobile. The one I prefer is called Acode. The Python part of the game is built inside Termux (With Ubuntu added). Which is a Linux terminal made for android. Might not be the most common setup but it helps a ton for me to keep coding while having a busy life to keep up with. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 6! My name's Hythrain, and I'm one of the hosts and streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live on my stream.

IS THERE A SECRET LEVEL?! HOW DO I PLAY TE SECRET LEVEL!

Anyway, this was an interesting concept! Normally, rhythm games would want you to hit the blocks, not dodge them. A fun change. However, I did find some songs fell out of sync. I assume the blocks are made either on the notes/beats or the dodges are, but in either situation I don't feel like they were in sync. This could be me, though.

I otherwise don't have much to say except I want more. ;D

Hello and thanks for playing my early build! ๐Ÿค— I checked your channel out and really enjoyed watching you play the submitted games. (Even though I didn't see Naif there. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

There might be one.. Secret level <hint> provided a little hint inside my patch notes found top right corner by tapping on the build number. In short,  there's something about repeatedly tapping the Insane Text in the highscore container. Sometimes that cause an unexpected level to show up. </hint>

Yeah the sync is sometimes acting up! I wrote the tool to generate levels based on the beat and pitch + base of the song I want in python. It's not perfect but it works for now. I believe adding a loading screen would solve the out-of-sync sometimes occurring due to latency and stuff.

Glad you enjoyed the game! ๐Ÿคฉ

I enjoy neon visual designs, which give me the feeling of playing games in an arcade. The music paired with different difficulty levels is also impressive (The music of the "secret" level makes my body sway XD). Look forward to future developments and expansions.โ€

Some suggestions:

  • Sometimes you want to move just a little bit, but it actually ends up going beyond the expected distance. It may be nice to provide multiple speed options, such as holding down Shift to shorten the distance traveled, giving the player more precise control over movement. (Similar the sensitivity option in my game, BTW)
  • Although the game mechanics are simple, it would be nice to provide a brief guidance during the first play.
  • In the context of rhythm games, adjusting volume and movement speed is actually quite important.

Thanks alot for trying out the game in it's current state! I aimed for an arcade type game, really like the rhythm based games aswell. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm really thankful for your provided suggestions! There's some stuff I'll definitely take into consideration.

It may be nice to provide multiple speed options, such as holding down Shift to shorten the distance traveled, giving the player more precise control over movement.

This actually never hit me at all. But you're probably right! Having this would allow for more precise movement, with something like this I could even adjust the difficulty even more since players would have a way of getting through intense areas.

it would be nice to provide a brief guidance during the first play

Yes, I definitely agree. I should probably add a tutorial/first level to explain controls and mechanics. As of now there's nothing. On mobile it's pretty straightforward since most games use touch. But should probably add something for desktop aswell!

adjusting volume and movement speed is actually quite important

I've been thinking about adding a settings menu for volume atleast. Great call.

Thanks for your feedback! ๐Ÿคฉ

ok - this game slaps.

im not great at rhythm games so i played on newbie. if theres mechanics that arent there in newbie i didnt see them. but the controls are responsive and the bullet patterns are fun. kinda reminds me of audiosurf, but without the 'yr own music' thang- its that kind of rhythm game

its fluid af and the music is good too- you got the controls as polished as you could. id love to get this on my phone.

this is like 4.5 out of 5 for me- i wish there was a lil more going on visually but like, its hard to do that without doin flashy FX and i cant play games like that.  still. ya did good. i have to be out the door in 45 minutes and i keep goin 'aaaaa just one more run'.

Thanks alot for playing the game in this early build! Im really glad you seem to enjoy the game too! I have alot of things planned out and tinkering with some visual improvements.

I often find myself simply playing the game "just oneeee more time" aswell, hah! Did you find the "secret" level yet? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh if you haven't already, the game IS in fact built for mobile first. (I even built it on my phone so..) Simply run it from your phone. Supports both IOS and Android as far as I know. ๐Ÿ˜„

YES!!! This is not the game about a square jumping around rectangles! It actually has a GAMEPLAY!

5 Star Music! ^-^

I'm glad you liked the super-basic early release alpha build gameplay! ๐Ÿคฉ Thanks alot for trying the game. ๐Ÿค—

I really like rhythm games like this. The  controls are super smooth!! and the color palette is very nice (sometimes rhythm games get really flashy and hurts my eye, but this one is perfect!)

PS: I found the secret lvl it certainly didn't let me down wink wink ;)

Developer

Thanks alot for trying the game! Im glad you like the controls. I do too! Imo controls on mobile does take some time getting used to, but its kinda intentional, tried other approaches such as instant/live reaction but the game got to easy. ๐Ÿ˜…

Hah! My "secret" level doesn't let anyone down, so to speak. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Really liked the polish and the casual vibe, plus the minimalist aesthetic. As someone passionate about audio spectrums and synesthesia, I found it odd that there were no particles or something reacting to the music. But Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ve already considered that. Overall, itโ€™s a very solid and appealing foundation, and enhancing that addictive aspect (power-ups, extra lives, or whatever you can think of) would take it to the next level! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŒŸ

Developer

Thank you for trying out my game! I have indeed considered both power-ups /and or extra lives. I have been tinkering with powerups as of multipliers, but those aren't fully incorporated just yet. I'm not really set on what I want powerups for really. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I have an experimental build going with the background reacting to the music in terms of different colors and style but that isn't really fully done. It does add some cool stuff to the visuals though and is most likely getting pushed in a later updated. ๐Ÿ™‚

music is really good, wish I was good in this type of game though ... since I am not, I just waited and listened to it in the death room lol ... managed to hold on for almost 1 minute in newbie mode though ... Insane difficulty has the best music btw

Developer

Thank you so much for taking time trying out my early build. ๐Ÿ˜Š As mentioned in the notes, the game is fully developed on a phone. It should run decently on a pc/desktop. However there might be some poorly adapted UI. You control the player by using left/right arrow keys on desktop.

I am tinkering with some new gameplay features aswell. But that's for a future update. ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you find my little easter-egg? If not there's a little hint in the patch-notes, reached by tapping on the build-number top right corner. </hint>
