Nice, challanging plattformer game. Unfortunately, I could only play the tutorial and the first two levels. I'm too bad with the keyboard and mouse.^^ I think I could do it, but that would take too long now. Maybe I'll make it later or you build an easier mode with more time. After all, I want to know how the story continues. :-)

Thank you for playing. I don't mean to take up your time, but could I maybe know where you got stuck? Is it the Candycane level where the goal is 12.5? May I know how close you came to the target time? Also, is there an alternative control scheme you are more used to than keyboard and mouse?

Please don't worry about my time.  :-) I just didn't have too much time before. I got stuck at the ice level. It was a combination of 2 things. First, I didn't use the mouse enough, I used the A/D keys too much. And on the other hand my mouse was set too sensitive, that made controlling relatively difficult. :-) In my current attempt I got to the final. Now I would have to practice a few times, that I get over the rounds ice platforms. ^^ Usually I play games on the console, so a gamepad is more to me. :-) But after I found out that you need the mouse on the ice, I think it would not be so easy with a gamepad.

I see -- thank you for that information, it is helpful to know

oh one little thing I forgot yesterday. In the Toy Factory, the one with the moving plattforms and saws. I think it would be great, if the plattforms/saws start moving as soon as you press space for play and every time you die they get reset and wait until you press play again. I suggest this is because with the timing of the button press at the beginning you can los about 2-3 seconds. And I overlooked the position at the beginning a few times and found me in a harder challange as it really was.

Developer

Ok thanks for letting me know. I currently do this with the 3 thin platforms in the Toy Factory, as well as the 3 black platforms in the Ice Castle. They start based on when you flip the switch for Toy Factory and when you step on the previous platform for Ice Castle. I did not do this for the elevator at the start of Toy Factory because I wanted to add a little challenge for the player to time it properly. I added a similar little challenge with making a drop right at the beginning of Candycane Lane if you do not jump right away. But I think people dislike these little challenges so I can remove them. Thank you for the feedback.

Ok, I didn't know it was intentional. The first drop in Candycane lane I find not so bad, you fall in the first time and then you know it. I would not have built such a challenge directly into the first level, but otherwise I see no problem with it.

I think people are just used to the platforms starting in such a way that the player can run straight through, as long as he doesn't make any mistakes. I'm thinking of games like Crash Bandicoot.

Developer

It's a good point, I think I will change it as you suggest

Unique take on the recovery theme - would have liked to see this expanded more in the main levels somehow. Like having a misstep/fall takes reduces your run speed/jump speed thus forcing alternative routes until you recover.

I second ShadowGrif: the camera angles and color choices made it so I didn't see some jumps until I got too close.

The platforming was fun and enjoyed the tutorial level. Great job!

Thank you!

  • Use of Theme - 4
    • The idea of recovering physically from an injury is really good. Even though it doesn't really reflect much on the gameplay other than the intro sequence.
  • Gameplay - 3
    • The gameplay is  enjoyable and challenging. Didn't really found any bugs. The level design is also really creative.
  • Creativity - 4
    • A race against time type of game is nothing groundbreaking but i really appreciated the story! Good job
  • Art - 2
    • The art is where i would flaw this game the most. It looks like a demo. The color choices make it hard to navigate sometimes because a lot of the scene looks the same.I would had some textures and use different colors/textures for alternating platforms to make it easier to know where to jump.
  • Sound - 2
    • The sound is really just a background music looping and sometimes too loud which distracts from the gameplay.
