This game looks so much better than the space game I tried creating for a jam once. In the future I would try making the game play at a lower resolution. I am on a 1920 x 1080 monitor and it couldn't fit on my screen. The full screen button wasn't working for me, but that could be a Itch problem. Otherwise I like the use of theme and the creativity of the game.

Overall a really fun but challenging experience. Letting your laser overheat did a good job balancing but I think the bugs could have been oneshots, as quite a few of them spawn :)

This was pretty fun! There's a lot going on here, much more than in a regular SHMUP. The gameplay has a lot of facets - hunting for seeds, defending the plants, and hunting down the space bugs. It plays very well into the theme of recovery too. Well done!

It is a bit awkward that the plants block your shots. Maybe that's just me being bad at this sort of game, but I found that a little annoying and frustrating at times. That's really my only complaint, though. This is a fun game, and it executes really well on the theme.

This game is really amazing, fit the theme very well, and it's also very fun to play. The song and the art I also have nothing more to say, it's very well-polish and very well-made. GG 🔥🔥

A short game about assisting planet recovery. For me had some highs and some lows but overall I was glad I played it.

The high points for me were:

  • The planet improvements as you progress was a nice addition so support the Jam Theme
  • The unique gameplay of both offense and defense was engaging

My feedback:

  • I initially tried to plant seeds on the portals as it wasn't clear straight away - I thought they may have been planets. Consider shrinking them or reworking their shape at least so they are not planet shaped if you update this game in the future
  • I did not like how plants blocked your shots - it felt like punishment for succeeding. This plus a low ammo count made it so ramming the bugs became powerful (especially given the ships huge hitbox and health pool). This made me rely on ramming and HP recovery at the tree rather than shooting
  • The tree recover mechanic seemed inconsistent. Sometimes it was full HP, other times it ticked up over time, other times it was only on entry to the area. Not sure if this was intended or a bug.

Overall, good concept. But I can't help but think that some gameplay variety is needed to really make it shine.

Developer

Thanks so much for your thoughts and giving great feedback. I totally agree with your points and definitely would improve on those if updating in the future.

So glad you played it, thanks!!

Wow, really fun!

It was challenging to finish. I found the way the lasers interacted with the trees confusing / suppressing. But I liked how crisp the controls were - it was necessary to keep up with all the beetles!

Good job making something fun to play

Developer

Yeah after playing it a bit more, I myself find the way the lasers interact with the trees a bit confusing and frustrating at points. When play testing, it was wayyy too easy when the player could shoot through the trees, so giving them a hitbox to absorb the lasers helped balance the game. However, it still isn't 100%.

Thanks for this feedback! :) This will help me iterate and improve in the future. I really appreciate it and glad you had fun with this game!

  • Use of Theme - 5
    • The game truly embodied the theme imo.
  • Gameplay - 4
    • The game is engaging, challenging and fun. Most of the mechanics are intuitive and well built, with the exception of the "portals" i would say. It took me a while to figure out what they were and what they did. But overall i think it's a very good experience.
  • Creativity - 4
    • Very creative mechanics and story. perhaps a little more variety, would help keep the player engaged for longer.
  • Art - 4
    • The art style is not the prettiest but it is functional and clear, which makes for a pleaseant user experience.
  • Sound - 4
    • The BGM and the SFX match the game pretty well.

I liked this! It felt satisfying shooting at the beetles and planting seeds.

I really like the idea of recover the planet, with plants. The game is fun to play and has solid gameplay. I think the difficulty level is a little bit to high, as defending 15 plants vs. enemies coming from every side of the planet. Or can the plants get big enough that the bugs cannot steal them anymore? (Maybe I missed that.)

Developer

Thanks! Yeah I agree the difficulty curve can be pretty high. I made it so the plants are not able to be uprooted once they are fully planted. I could have made that more clear and more audio visual updates to show this.

Thanks for the feedback and for playing :)

Ah okay, I saw that some of the plants hadn't been attacked in a while, but since they were in the middle of the planet, I wasn't sure if those were safe or they just weren't being attacked because there were newer plants on the outside of the planet.
