Theme interpretation
It's a hybrid between a lemmings style puzzler and an endless runner. Only the leading creep can be given commands and you can't plan too far ahead because the camera follows the leader so it's part reaction, part puzzle.

This was a really fun game. I did feel the last level was a bit repetative (turned into a chore really), but I thought the rest of the game was delightful and that this was a good interpretation of the hybrid theme. Best of luck to you.

(Also, I'd really appreciate if you would try my game out. It was supposed to be more lemmings inspired, but has at least some)

I really like the game! Took me a while to figure out i had to press "N" for the next level tough. Camera controls could be better as well

Developer

Yea, I've heard that a few times now. I thought having the controls on the download page would be enough but I guess having it tell you in game (like it does with most other things) is much more user friendly. Thanks for playing!

Cool game enjoyed playing it!! Mix of those both J's really different and enjoyed it. I love lemmings a lot and the way made it. You implementing it to create a hybrid concept is really cool!!

Thanks for making jt!! Do check our game too if you haven't yet!! Thanks for making g keep doing 😁

Thanks! I'll try to turn it into a fully fledged game after the jam I think :)

I never played Lemmings, but know about this game. After playing your game, it looks like it has to be fun to play.

Mine is a clone of Lode Runner with hint of Bomberman.
I would be glad, it you try my game

Thanks!

I'll definitely check your entry out :)

Very well made game with some good ideas. I think any of my feedback has already been covered in the posts below, especially what @thesambasador said about what not being able to plan ahead because of the camera. If that's a core design element, I would suggest you try refining it a bit. Great work all the same!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It is/was a core design element but I’d probably focus more on the puzzle side if I develop it further.

Awesome idea!  This was pretty enjoyable to play and I think that the core idea is well executed. The little "thud" sound when you get a guy to the goal was very satisfying and the visual design was pleasant enough to work for the game.  I think this is one of the more innovative titles I've seen in the jam.

Since I liked it, here's some more in-depth criticism (note that I really liked it quite a bit, so don't take this as me saying the game was bad, these are just the things I didn't enjoy):

  • It seems like you purposefully made it so you "can't look too far ahead", but I don't think that that was a great design choice.  There were plenty of times that I messed up because I couldn't plan things out, and all that means is that I had to restart the level after messing it up the first time. It would have been nicer if I could have seen the whole level, then started it when I was ready.
  • Along the same lines, it was a bit frustrating to not be able to "undo", especially in the longer levels. A single misplaced jumper or switcher basically leads to you needing to restart the level.
  • A dialog to prompt the player to hit "N" for the next level would have been nice.  Also, it would have been nice to know if it was impossible to complete the level with the current number of guys left alive, so I could restart earlier.
  • Some of the later levels get a bit repetitive.

Overall this is a really cool little entry!

Developer

Thanks!

I did restrict the camera intentionally because I was thinking about the endless runner side of the hybrid - I was imagining some levels being reaction based but didn’t really follow through on it.

I think if I keep developing it the runner bit will fall by the wayside and I’ll focus on the puzzle elements. This would also perhaps resolve the need for an undo if I allowed more planning, pause, slowdown, maybe mouse input or something.

This is excellent. One of my favorite entry for sure. Pressing space and making them all spawn is so satisfying. The graphics and sounds are simple but they work really well.

The only thing is that I had to press every key to find out that "N" gets you to the next level. Other than that, it's perfect.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! If I finish the game I'll add more prompts (like for n for next level). I also love making them all rush out rapidly - I'd like to add some more sound effects reminiscent of the pitch increasing spawn noise from the original lemmings and maybe a way of killing them all off "oh noooo". Sound isn't really my forte but I'm sure I can come up with something that sounds fun and isn't too irritating :)

You deserve much more than 4 reviews. If you make a full release, I will buy it.

I have an entry as well if you want to check it out.

Thanks. I'll definitely check your entry out.

Excellent concept. I would like to see it fully explored.

Developer

Thanks! I struggled to think of any more actions that I could implement in the time limit but I'm sure there are loads of possibilities. I was imagining a way of splitting the flow of creeps so some go one route and some go another. This would enable things like sending some to press switches or weigh down see-saws. Maybe something like the original lemmings of using a climber or similar to send a few out early to clear the way before opening the flood gates.
