This was hard, and a little unfair at times, but a cool concept and has some depth like gaining double jump and other cool combos of the cards in your hand. Really nice take on the theme!

Developer

Hard for sure, but I can't see what would be unfair about it. Would love to hear why you feel that way :)

It's challenging, but I think it's the fun type of challenging. I like the idea a lot. Nice work :D

So I think as you mentioned on our game, physics are hard! I found particularly the dash and boost mechanics had less control than I would have liked. It's definitely super hard and the random element was interesting, but sometimes I think the levels were too hard with the cards that were dealt.

I'd have liked it if it maybe only dealt a few jumps at the beginning to ease you in, throw in a boost here and there so that you can start to get used to the discard and shuffle mechanic and then start to add dash's and others later on.

Super fun game though, I enjoyed playing it and extremely innovative! The card aspect is actually really fun and the audio was probably one of my favourite parts! A lot of potential there!

Developer

Those DASH and BOOST moves are meant to be limited, basically so you're forced to use them in combos with other moves. For instance, I didn't want you to easily move side to side while using BOOST because that would negate the purpose of the JUMP move. I'll be sure to revisit how those mechanics work when I get back to developing the project.

Thanks for all the good feedback, and I'm glad you had fun. You're absolutely right that the game could benefit from easing the player in. I'll be working on that very soon.

This is a great game, I had a lot of fun playing it. I found some of the randomly generated levels super difficult but that's what also kept it interesting. The card shuffling/discarding system added a nice quick-thinking aspect to the game.

Developer

Yep, the first thing I'm going to fix after the jam is the randomization. Needs to be balanced quite a bit. Really glad to hear you enjoyed it, though!

I really like the game. Very innovative.
Maybe because i opened too many things on my browser, It crashed when my score reached 200...

I really like the idea. great job

Developer

Thank you! That's an interesting bug, I'll have to check it out. What browser were you using?

Submitted(+1)

Safari --- I use Mac

Very challenging and complex jumper game.

Submitted(+1)

I love the art style and idea for the game, but first  jumps are a bit too hard. I barely managed to go three platforms up. Great stuff otherwise :-)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! If you don't mind, could you let me know what was hard about it for you?

Submitted(+1)

Lack of the control when jumping probably what made it hard the most. Wave goes up really quick so you impulsively jump early and can't properly adjust your jump in the air

Submitted(+1)

Great game. I loved the sounds and art. But I will definitively suggest lowering the distance between jumps at the beginning. Iplayed 6 times without passing 3rd jump.  :(

Developer(+1)

So glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the feedback. I'll definitely be refining the randomization of platforms and items as I continue development.

Submitted(+1)

Yes, I would suggest doing a first level really introductory to the mechanics... you can even have 1 level without the rising water/lava so you present that danger in the second or third level and that makes it more engaging to the player... because he/she though it was all easy and cannot accept too loose his previous success feeling. :D

Developer

Great idea!

The game is very difficult for me the first few times, but I love the idea and the potential =)
Excellent work!

Very nice music and sound. I really like the mechanic but is a bit hard for me :P Still very good though!

if you have some time...

Here's our entry for the jam as well, all feedback possible is appreciated.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the mechanic even though it was hard. I'm going to work to make sure the challenge is balanced better in the future.

Will check out your entry tonight!

Very nice visuals! And the gameplay is very very original! Keep working on it, it's a great game that may work really well played with friends!

Check our game if you have time! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'll definitely keep working on this, and will be checking out your game tonight :)

Can be a bit difficult at start, but i love the weirdness / craziness going on! Good job!

Submitted(+1)

Really awesome aesthetics and sound design. The whole thing feels really good to play, and the polish definitely shows.

The gameplay was challenging at the start, but it became pretty easy once you have a bunch of cards. Especially if those cards are jumps or boosts. Once I had a deck full of boosts, it wasn't hard to go infinite.

Developer

Yep, I'm hoping to fix the "infinite" problem. Because there's no real ramp in difficulty and all of the spawning is totally random, it can get too easy to just keep going, especially if you're not worried about score. I'm going to have to focus more on scaling the difficulty and finding an end game in future updates.

Appreciate the feedback!

Fun theme interpretation! Very nice visuals and audio.

Developer

Much appreciated :)

Submitted(+1)

At some points a little bit too random but a nice, fluid experience. :)
Addicted to getting better.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, it's extremely random. I was hoping to polishing the various spawning scripts, but didn't have time. Will make sure to do that in a future update!

Submitted(+1)

So addictive!  I agree that you could sort of slow down the pace at the beginning and maybe have some more initial characters that talk to you and tell you what each card does?  Who knows I could be wrong, had a great time playing this one as is!

Developer(+1)

That's a really good idea about having a character of some kind explain the cards and rules in the beginning. I'm definitely going to add that in a future update. Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

It is really nice to play! The sounds add an atmosphere and it is still a little hard, awesome work !

Developer

Thank you! Really appreciate that

Submitted(+1)

It's a great mix of platformer and arcade . Loved the game a lot and those satisfying background!!

Do check our game too !! thanks for making it

Developer

Thank you! And yes, I had fun with your game, too :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow, great game! The mechanics mashup is fantastic, and the gameplay is super well complemented by the superb visuals and audio. Great work!

Developer

That's so great to hear, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Love the sound design. The inability to actually select your next powerup is really interesting and makes this game a lot more about thinking ahead. While the rising water definitely puts the stress and excitement levels on full blast, I think this format might be better suited to a slower paced level design.

Nonetheless I played it till I beat it I think. It is very addicting.

Congratulations on finishing your game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks a bunch for checking out the game. That's really interesting feedback on making the game slower paced, I'll have to explore how that idea would work.
