Theme interpretation
On the literal level, it’s a game about werewolves that come out on the full moon, and you have to shoot them. Figuratively, trying to save hapless people from your bunker is something of a moonshot—an ambitious and perhaps impractical goal.
On the meta level, this whole project is a moonshot. I’m a high school teacher on the back end of my 30s; despite grand intentions, I haven’t made anything more than a flimsy prototype of a game in many years. So, making a game in a month? Learning a new library to do it? Sign me up!

Oh wow, I think you got the mood right. The shapes moving between the trees, the music and the darkness were spot on! But for the gameplay, I just couldn't understand what was happening for a long time, I started blasting randomly and heard the sounds, see the number rising and I understood things were dying, I just couldn't see what or where. Eventually I managed to see some shapes moving, but the screen was so small and everything is black, and the shapes move really fast too. I never managed to spot a shape and shoot it by reaction, I think I just managed to shoot things randomly. You say it's your first game, so congratulations on getting mood and ambience right! Good job!
Very cool concept, theme interpretation and atmosphere created! Unfortunately I couldn’t differentiate properly the targets and I kept shooting to the wrong ones :(. It would be great if the game could resize to full-screen, it did not work for me.
A really nice foundation, well done!
I really like the idea, and the mood was fantastic. In the opening few moments watching the moon rise with the ominous music and wolf noises I felt terror I haven't felt since playing Chex Quest as a 7 year old and hearing the aliens in the distance
It was really hard to see the wolves and humans though, and really hard to tell them apart. I wish they had been more obvious, and maybe running to attack the player instead of running into the distance. I just kept killing humans. Very sad. Man I loved the Wilhelm Scream though.
Anyway, very cool game. Just a little hard to play.
Theme interpretation was fabulous, also. I never even CONSIDERED werewolves. Brilliant.
Thanks very much for having a go! Yeah, I was disappointed that I didn’t get around to make the werewolves and humans more visible (and distinct). But I’m glad you liked the mood so much.
For a long time I thought the trees felt pain.
There seems to be something wrong with the game. I started the game twice but both times I just stood there and kept turning around for a few minutes, but there was nothing there for me to shoot. I am a bit confused it I am doing it wrong or if this is somehow a bug?
However, I like the theme and the vibe of the game very much!
Thanks for your comments! I’m glad you liked it.
You’re probably not doing anything wrong—the enemies (and humans) can be very small and hard to see. That’s one thing I mean to work on after the jam is over!
Great job on a first game. I liked the concept! It was a little hard to see the werewolves at times. Also, I’m not sure if scoring was working correctly, as I got points for shooting into the night.
The collision detection is very buggy, so that’s probably what was happening. Sometimes I think it’s hitting things that are behind you instead of in front…
Hey Perey, congrats on finishing the game! This was my first game jam as well. I had wanted to get into game development seriously for years and finally decided to take the plunge with this jam. Sometimes you just have to push yourself to do it otherwise it always stays at the "I'll do it later" stage.
The game was pretty fun! It took me a while to understand what was happening, I wasn't expecting the characters to be so small haha. The atmosphere was really creepy and perfect for the setting. I also wasn't able to play fullscreen for some reason, the game window stayed small even when I hit the fullscreen button, maybe that would have helped with seeing the enemies better.
I think the UI has some room for improvement too. It's just a number right now, but maybe it could be a meter or some other visual UI element. Maybe you could also visually show to the player somehow when they save people or let them die and make them feel extra guilty for it haha. Fun game overall!
Like the ambience, making the werewolves small made me focus and increased the spooky factor. They may have been a little too hard to see, at some points I was firing at what appeared to be nothing but ended up hitting something (do trees block the bullets? adding that in might fix this issue). Nice job :)
For the game, it took a bit for my eyes to adjust but eventually they did and I started being able to kill the werewolves. I think I also blasted a fair amount of innocents though, considering the score I ended up with. As for stuff apart from the game, congratulations on making a whole game in a month, using a new library no less! I hope to see you continue working on games!
I'm wondering if my eyes aren't up to the task. I loved the mood and music, but really had trouble seeing much in the distance. I was playing through chrome - hope everything was working.
If you like platformers, please try our game.
I don't know how you did it, but this game really captivated me! Maybe I'm a sucker for spooky stuff but this is really great! I don't know if it was intentional that you can spam shoot the moon for points in the very start but I think it fit the theme well to have that feature ;) Good job, and I would actually love to see a move fleshed out version, the "peeling your eyes for the smallest movement" was awesome!
Good atmosphere here coming from both the music and the need to scan the horizon for movement between the dark trees. Unfortunately I did pitifully and only rescued one survivor while my impatience led me to shoot the others as soon as I saw a distant flicker, haha. Maybe I just subconsciously enjoy the Wilhelm Scream too much. Congrats on getting a cohesive game out while learning a new engine and working as a teacher.
Nice work! 30 days is definitely not a lot of time to learn both a new tool, and a new paradigm of coding. Love the idea, and love that you went three dimensional - flexing your math skills at us 2D folk :)
