I realy love the artwork and audio of this game. You might to work on the movement! :)
Rate no. 18
I'm not going to sugarcoat anything:
Looks good but god this is like one of the worst movement I've ever experienced. Jumps are incredibly scuffed, somehow gets delayed randomly, the animation gets bugged all the time, you get stuck on every wall and instead of fixing it you made it a feature.
The music is probably good, except for some reason it's 3D panned around a point which makes it really annoying.
I got idk how far on the first level, got to a platform with no indication on where it's supposed to go, so I just jumped, maybe it's a blind jump and just died. Then I promptly quit because there's no way I'm doing all that work again.
Overall, there was like 10x more work on the visuals than the gameplay, which is not good. Focus on gameplay next time you do a jam.
Many thanks for your time.
I will be working an after-jam version of this, the first and most important thing to fix is the player controller. I know how much it is outweighed by the efforts of the Artists and I don't like it.
For the record, I did take more time than the artists did, its just that it was my first Platformer and animation blending is not my specialty.
I love the art style of the game; the aesthetics are really cool. The music, along with it, creates a great atmosphere. Regarding the gameplay, it would be nice to have a bit more control over the jumps. Nevertheless, great job! ^^
Graphics are cool and Audio set a nice mood. Controls were too janky though.
Thank you for your time to play! I agree that the animations needed better blending which I will look into it in the future. We also had three phase jumping but I haven't used blending animations in a while (if not at all, for jumping).
Background was looking dope. Jumping was weird like flying but it did not bothered me. I progress a lot but fall down and start from the beginning again which is a big no no for me. Even "Getting Over It" was not that punishing.
Thanks for playing! I had a checkpoint based system working BUT since I added the consumables I also did not have enough time to refine it enough, so instead of having an altogether broken game, I made the harsh decision to go with the "Just reload the current scene" trick.
the art and music are lovely, but i found the controls a little too unwieldy to play much of the game. it's also a bit unintuitive to hit space to open the first door. i did really appreciate the coyote time! that's something that i find is usually missed in game jam platformers
Thank you for taking your time to play the game! It was my first attempt at 3D and platformers so I understand that it could have been better. Perhaps I will include a screenshot of the controls so people know (E can be used for opening doors instead).
Since I had two artists in the team I wanted to provide as much of a visual experience as possible.
