The game looks great and the music fits well with the feel of the game.
However, although firing at the beat of the music sounds fun, it is not something you can use as a player unless you know the song by heart. The controls are also very hard. After going down the difficulty path from normal to easy to casual I finally mannaged to get some sort of aiming going by strafing but dodging the bullets seems impossible for me.

I managed to beat level 1 on casual once and then continued to die at level 2 so clearly I suck at the game. Even the game I won I got an F ;P

Again, great job on the graphics and the music feel. Just too difficult (for me ;P)

Wow neat game - very hard but cool :)

Awesome gam - really enjoyed it and the creative interaction of the music.

Very cool shooter but it is increadibly difficult to control the space ship.

Very fun! Good work!

The game is fun, the graphics look quite nice and I liked the choices for different weapons - I found it quite difficult to chase after the ship and to load the bombs and special effects for attacks but that might a good thing (I don’t normally play arcade-y style shooty games). I did really love the feel of flying around and how the screen spun, felt like you were in space, it was cool! :)

That is a lot of work for 4 days and game looks very polished. How did you use the music scales for fire btw? Do you have an analyzing script or did you manually put checkpoints for every note?

Developer

I created my own XM music player library some time ago. It was pretty easy for me to add something like an event listener to it.

The player emits the Note events every time it’s about to play a note. That Note event includes the note value (an XM note value), its volume, channel, and some other info.

It would also be possible to change the BPM on the fly and add dynamic speed changes to the game, but I ran out of time.

Here is the library itself: https://github.com/quasilyte/xm

This is so impressive for a single developer in such a short timeframe! So many options, a clean art style and fluid gameplay. Easy to learn and hard to master. Really well done! Who needs Armored Core VI with games like this?

Developer

I wanted to use my XM player library for something cool. :D

Mission accomplished :)

I think maybe you could make the player a little slower since dodging is very hard and more often then not you just runaway instead. I think the idea of shooting on beat is really cool though. The graphics are really creative I love the art style you went for its very unique and different. Although I think you could make the bosses for each level a bit more different .

The audio Very good! I'm not sure if the glitching was on purpose but again the music is very on sync with the bullets and that was nice but I'm not sure if the bosses were all synced with the music I couldn't really tell. This is also just a really creative game! The idea has been done before but I liked what you did with it, with this being a bullet hell where you also are firing. Not exactly sure how the concept of scaling was used here but yeah in general really good game!

The game is very nice. Controls are little difficult for me even on the casual game mode. But over all the game looks fantastic.

I really enjoyed this one! The concept is a very nice twist to the bullet-hell formula that integrates really well with the core of the genre, congratulations! 😊

I still have to test it a little bit more, but I loved what I've played until now, I'll expand my review in the near future with some feedback 🤗

Outstanding job! 😁
