Hello to all the viewers!
Thanks to many great suggestions in this game jam. You really encourage me to make this game better. Recently I update a new version, in which contains new rating system, control update, and some new levels!
Also, I collected the suggestions in this page and put them into my developing note. All of them are precious experience in my game dev journey :)
Really good game, I like that you modified and made project boost your own. Very nice improvements on it. I played it on my live stream tonight and if you wanted to check it out for the feedback you can see it here
Wow thank you so much!!! especially for the video!!
It's the first time I participate in a game jam, and also my first chance to see someone, other than my family and friends, play through the game I develop, so it's very meaningful to me. I was so exciting and nervous when I watched the video haha, and really appreciate for you and your viewers' feedbacks! They are very encouraging and helpful!
Also sorry for the files and setting part, I saw that it took you quite some time to make the game play work, thanks a lot for your patience! I'll learn to upload it in itch and check the scale. Again, thanks for all these things :)))))
Good job, thanks for watching
I like the visuals a lot! Simple but fun gameplay. Good job :)
Thanks! Great encouragement! :D
Good submission. Lots of fun.
Thank you! Happy that you enjoy it :D
Good old project boost, brings back fond memories of about 12 months ago when I made this project and decided I like making 3d rather than 2d games.
You did a solid job on the visuals and of course the gold, but maybe take the rigidbodies off half the gold (and add a particle effect to those ones) so you have to decide which ones glitter and which ones are certain death :)
I hope you keep going with the 3D, I loved the course!.
Haha yes! I also enjoy the 3D course a lot! Thanks for the encouragement! I'll keep going with it!
The idea is interesting, and quite nice to show the theme! I'll try it in the coming level design!
Solid submission. Good job on adapting Project Boost from the Unity 3D course.
Thank you :DD
Loved it!
Only thing is that It was hard for me to identify which blocks could destroy me (foreground and background) you know?
But it was a great game, I loved to play it!
Thank you! Glad that you love it!! :D
Yes!! My friend who played it also had the same problem. I plan to maybe adjust it by giving them some different colors, or some implications at least, so players can get some clues and chances to get through them, hope it'll work well!
Great way to incorporate your 3D game course learning into a jam!
I liked that you managed to get the theme in there and you added some twists to the basic challenge in the course... well done!
Thank you!! Very happy to get this encouragement! :)
Nicely done! I recognise the game from the 3D course. :) I did a version of it last year too. I quite like these skilled-based games, and enjoyed having to figure out what was in front and what was behind. I also liked that collecting gold made you heavy, nice touch. Maybe you could have a star rating system where you get 1 star for finishing, 2 for collecting 50% of the gold, or 3 for collecting it all. Or somehow get some reward for getting the gold.
Two things I'd point out: the rotation feels a bit funny, like it's not centred in the rocket (maybe that's intentional?). To me it felt a bit strange, but got used to it quickly. And also, in the last level, going vertical was tricky because there was little 'preview' of what was coming. While it's nice that it raises the difficulty, it meant crashing 'out of the blue', if that makes sense, which was maybe a bit frustrating. I would keep the rocket a bit lower in the camera view for that level at least, if it was me.
Haha Yes! I am taking the course now, so I decided to develop the game based on the course's progress.
Star rating system sounds great! I am not sure how to save the player's data that can cross different levels, but I think I can start with the rating in the end of every level!
The two points are important! I will try to learn more about the physics and adjust the rotation as much as I can, and for the second level, I think it's good to adjust the camera view! I did find it's quite easy to hit the obstacles in a sudden, good point to change!
Thanks for the really detailed suggestions overall!! :D
Very unique submission! I do think the random changing directions forward or backward might be a bit too much of a challenge since you cant correct it (least from what I found). But the mechanics of the thrusters and keeping off the ground was very enjoyable.
Thank you! Yes I totally agree with that. I haven't found a good way to let players properly control it, but I'll try to adjust it or cancel the function. Happy that you enjoy it! :D
Cool concept, but it was really hard to steer.
At the same time, I must say that I felt the weight of the rocket. Very cool.
Good job :)
Thank you! :D I'll try to adjust it in next version.
