Impressive stuff !

Pretty smooth but a bit too dark (i know its a part of the theme/atmosphere but some lights would surely be nice)

Nice game!

First of all, idea is soo unusual for me. Use of theme is awesome, really liked it! Everything feels nice and robust, except for digging animation, at the end there are strange frames that look pretty strange, but mechanic is working nice!

Didn't understand what purpose of zombies, to make you move around location? Feels, like there could be more, there is freedom for strategies, you can add some layer of gameplay by making zombies more interesting! They are just to simple for me, i think.

But it doesn't say that game is boring! Had fun running around location and digging graves, had that precious sense of wonder, maybe there is graves, maybe i can get somewhere high. You have a lot of opportunities to improve your game and make it really fun and interesting experience!

May add some variety to graves, like empty, or rare, or just some that can spawn the enemy!

Overall, great game! hope to see your other projects in the future!

Hi rzx,

Thanks for your feedback. Most of the things you mentioned (Fix animation, empty and rare graves, and even spawns) were already on my list, I just didn't have the time to add it to the game before the deadline. Will probably do so at some point in the future.

The zombies are actually designed to be be kind of brainless (hehe), the danger comes from numbers, because every time you dig up a grave a new zombie spawns (I need to add more graves though ). Anyway I am open for suggestions. Any ideas on how to make them more interesting?

For the general gameplay I think more focus on survival could be interesting, this would also remove the need for the timer. But I'll probably make a new game for this.

"death is just the beginning (of me getting rich)" as a tagline for a grave robber - very clever!

Hehe, thanks 😁

I loved the whole vibe of the world and the visuals. Everything looked awesome and the world was neat to explore. My only wish would have been for a visual indicator of where to dig and where I had already dug. But nice execution overall!

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I totally agree with the missing indicator. I am planning to add maybe some decent glow or fog to unlooted graves in the future. I previously had visible stone plates in place and also a loot-progress indicator as an overlay, but it was a little immersion-breaking for me, so I removed it.. Kind of need a replacement for that though. 😅

Wow the sound music and overall feel of this game is incredible. It's inspiring for me as a completely new developer to see what other can achieve in 10 days. The only feedback I'd have is sometimes I would dig and nothing would happen, I wasn't too sure what the purpose was. Other than that, this was really really good.

Hi codebear,

thank you for your honest comment. In fact I am a relatively new developer myself, so I appreciate your feedback very much. :) By "nothing will happen" you mean the game freezes or the score doesn't get updated? Did you hold the key down until the animation finished? Or maybe you were on the wrong side of the gravestone? (it's something hard to tell which is the correct side) I'll have a look into it.

Ahh the gravestone! That was it. The animations, score, and game ran smoothly. I was just on the wrong side.

Hi there, we don't accept unitypackages as source. This is because unitypackages don't include project or editor settings. Please reupload your source so that it contains the Assets, Packages, and ProjectSettings folders. It should look similar to this when done: https://github.com/icepol/DeathIsOnlyTheBeginning

Developer

Thanks for the hint, I zipped the project files and uploaded them, they should be available in a few minutes. :)

Yep, it looks good now :)
