Great entry. It's really well polished for a 10 day jam. Everything works :) I like the simplistic art style and the use of lighting. The sound is great too. I play some tactics games from time to time so this was right up my alley. You have a solid base for a bigger game here, beyond the game jam. I hope you continue to expand on this.

This was a really well polished game for a jam.
The sound effects of the blasters were great, the UI was nice and concise and the overall tactics gameplay felt satisying. Good stuff.

Thank you for playing and the feedback

The game looks nice. Love the sound effects. Main gameplay is okay. Love how the hostage become a healer. Grenade does so little damage. Good job on the game.

Developer

Thank you for playing.

I totally agree that the grenades does very little damage. We didn’t have much time to balance the game, though. Until very close to submission the weapons did very little damage as well. The damage is based on proximity so the farther the ‘victims’ are from the point of the explosion, the less damage they will take.

Dang, wild. You went for a whole Tactics games? Never seen that in a Jam before. I don't know how you managed it. I'm impressed on that fact alone.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The game doesn’t allow for much tactics as it is. We wanted to have units with different stats and abilities, and better AI for the enemies but we didn’t get to that.

This game is honestly one of the more impressive ones I've seen, and looks and feels (mostly) polished. Strong Xcom feel, with pleasant aesthetics, good sounds, and great mechanics. This needs more attention.

I would strongly recommend including some screenshots for your game on your page, and I would further recommend you use a screenshot for your cover image instead (with the name of the game put over it). The game honestly looks very good, and it doesn't come across with this cover image in my opinion.

Great work, both of you!!!

Thank you for playing and the feedback.

I think we were a little despondent in the end because it wasn’t complete, so we neglected the page a little. Will look into updating it

Gosh, you have so much to be proud of. The game may not have a scripted "ending" but it has a full gameplay loop, and an intricate one at that. You even have procedurally generated levels. You accomplished more than 90% of the participants here.

No need for super fancy screenshots; I'd get one that shows the blue movement grid, cause that looked really nice, and one that captures the gunfire (from either side) could be cool too. I'd aim for 3 screenshots, and then honestly just re-use one of them with your game's title photoshopped over it for your cover image. Or use the design for one of your characters in the cover image, because their style and outline shading is very appealing.

Obviously, it's your page; do as you will. But I think the 10 days of effort you put into this game deserve to be validated with a few extra minutes of effort on your page. Good luck!

Really impressed you were able to put this together during the jam time. It plays pretty well, it looks really smooth, and I definitely got some Xcom flashbacks when my dudes missed a shot!

One thing I would like is some hotkeys. Switching between my dudes with TAB and selecting their action with a number key would make the experience a lot better.

But still, great job with this one!

Thank you for playing.

I had the TAB switching between units at some point during development and that got changed again for some reason that I cannot recall right now. I’m not happy with what the controls are at the moment. Our first run had controls I felt really good about, but it came with it’s own challenges and I had to change it to what it is now.
