  • That was incredible!!! Absolute blast from start to finish. I love how each boss has something unique going on and new enemies are introduced with perfect pacing so the game never gets boring. I also really appreciated the slowdown mechanic. The delivery of items felt neither too sparse or too frequent. Everything feels tuned to perfection.
  • Space Evangelion: * The difficulty balance is pretty good * For boss 2, it would have been interesting to have a powerup that gives you a backwards-shooting laser * When enemies explode, their explosions don't have any velocity, and seem to hang in place, mostly it's noticeable for quickly moving enemies. Giving explosions in the game the potential for directional velocity is also a good first step to using lots of little exposion objects to compose larger explosions for bosses and such. * Other powerup weapons that you could switch through with the shoulder buttons would be cool * Difficulty is well balanced and very fair * Good length for a jam game * Overall, I'm very impressed!
  • Nice entry! With some more work it could become a great shooter :) Some notes: - Polygonal models look great. However, the angel and the bullets are a bit too small for the GBA Micro. - The boss you have to pass through looks great. - The slow down is infinite? It makes the game a bit too easy.
  • Nice music, and very fluid. I think that the powerup doesn’t last for long enough, but maybe that’s just me. 😅
  • A great entry with a lot of good lessons learned from the shmup genre. The enemies all have a clean, consistent style and unique mechanics to play around. I took notice of the small design detail too such as how collecting a power-up/health when you're already full never wasted as you get a shield when overcharging health and a free burst when overcharging power.

Jam ROM submission

Ok - understood! I attached the GBA ROM file as "MYGAMENAME_jam.gba".

So I'm garbage at SHMUPS, but I thought this was a really solid entry. The music is awesome, and the boss fights are well put together. Nice work!

the resource management of the spread shot ammo is an interesting thing to balance as a second factor to your survivability (besides health). the second boss fight's design was very fun! and it feels great to try to conserve your energy through the level as much as you can and then unload a whole magazine of multi-lasers directly into the boss's face :)

The music and visual style is nice, but the frequent repetition makes me not really want to try again after the first attempt.
