Judge feedback

  • Good game, but the fighting animations aren’t very fluid, and I could see dialogue in Spanish even though I selected English as language!
  • I found it hard to get into this game due to the slow and unforgiving combat, bugs, and missing polish in crucial areas such as sound effects. That said, it's clear that a lot of hard work and ambition went into this, which really shines through in the HUD, music, art and character animations.
  • I played your updated version with the English option fixed. This game looks really good, you have a lot of unique characters designs. The combat feels very slow as you're locked into the attack for the full animation.
  • There's a lot packed into this game for a jam project! Unfortunately, my understanding of Spanish is limited, and I had trouble understanding some of the dialog. It's a fun game and I hope you continue working on it! This is just a personal preference, but I think input queuing could improve the sword combat, or maybe the attack just needs to be a bit faster. With a bit of polish this game could be amazing! Looking forward to trying it again if you keep working on it!

this game is quite good i like it

First off, this looks pretty good. The graphics are readable, the HUD is straightforward, and it overall looks like an authentic GBA game. I liked the music too.

In gameplay, the biggest issue to me right now is that I can’t tell if I have i-frames or not, so when I get hit I have to fumble around to make sure I don’t immediately get hit again. The sword attack lasts too long and there is no way to cancel it, which can make combat a chore. I found myself dashing away from the first boss every time I landed a hit, because its attack is essentially unavoidable otherwise. I also wish using the shield didn’t lock my inputs for so long.

Sometimes there are rooms where the enemies instantly want to attack me before I can react, and they can cluster together too. Speaking of, I wish they didn’t respawn when I revisit the rooms (which I may have exploited to farm money.)

Lastly, I couldn’t progress after this room, so that’s where I stopped. I looked everywhere and revisited rooms (getting some crashes in the process) and didn’t know where to go or if I missed something.

room with a checkpoint and an exit

But overall, I like the concept here, especially those upgrades, and the NPCs I found along the way. With some polish I would definitely try it again

I found the orange scenery very pretty and the little platforming puzzles nice, but a little more speed with the sword strokes would have helped me avoid getting too badly dislocated by the wild boars (ferocious buggers!).

Thanks for your comment! Actually, this is a demo because we ran out of time haha. Thank you for the feedback :) we are still working on the game, hopefully it’ll be finished soon with all of this improvements! We know some enemies are too hard hahaha thanks for letting us know!! hope you liked it :)

The english option doesn't seem to work.

Developer

Yes, thank you for the notice. We ran into a coding issue right at the end so, it defaults to the Spanish text for the jam build. So, the English text is there, but sadly it's not getting displayed. It should be possible to complete the adventure without needing to understand the dialogues, though.

We've pushed a updated version which enables translation and music.

It was just one of those things which unfortunately broke at the last minute. :)
