Beautiful game, both visually and mechanically. Very nice sound as well! Although, regarding the sound, perhaps an engine sound for the ship would've been good? But that might be up to taste.
The game plays very well. It really captures the spirit and design of Crazy Taxi. Definitely very hard to say anything negative about this game. Like some of the commenters below, I could note that the ship might be a bit too floaty at points - although, that's part of the experience. The environmental destruction can similarly be somewhat rigid if you haven't built up enough speed, and that's about it.
Amazing job!
An engine sound would help a lot as feedback for normal movement, I'll add it to the post jam list.
Regarding destruction, yeah, it's a bit inconsistent. You should be able to burst through a window instead of crashing to a stop. Anything related to rigidbodies takes a lot of time and polish to get right and not glitch out. I'll revisit that too, eventually.
Thank you for playing!!!
I made $1090. The mechanics are super different and funny. At first time it was difficult to control the ship, but with patience I learned. I liked the graphic, the world is super detailed.
Nice score! Thank you for playing!!
This was damn fun and surprisingly funny as well lol. Loved how the ship literally flailed about. The environmental destruction and shortcuts were nice as well. The colour pallete was also great and cohesive. Not really much wrong to say since what it does, it does very well. I guess the ship flailing about could be a negative for some but since you can re-direct it and blast off, it shouldn't really be a problem. Great game
Thank you for playing, and for the kind words!
Solid entry with an at first hard to understand control scheme but that gets fun after you get the handle of it. Spritework is superb and each place is well defined. Would be cool to get points for doing crazy stunts or something but really charming as it is right now.
A stunts/trick system like Tony Hawk? That could be pretty cool. I could give that a go post-jam.
Thanks for the suggestion!
This was great fun. I think you pulled off your idea perfectly. The ship controls well and after a learning run I ended up scoring over 2k. The palette and music fit your theme perfectly too, overall a great package. Well done.
2K??? You really got good at it, congrats!
Thank you for playing!
Took a little to get used to the controls but once I did wow this game is fun! Moving around and using boost somehow feels wacky and polished at the same time. Learning the map as I delivered more customers felt super rewarding. Great all around!
At one point, all the locations were just plain numbers, just like Space Taxi, but they're easier to remember if they look like actual places. So I spent an entire afternoon making dedicated tiles for each location, and looks like it paid off.
Thank you for playing!!
One of the most polish game I play for now ! I really love of the way the taxi move and how both dash and landing gear can be use to move in the space more freely. And the overall map is really well design, with the shortcut, but also the impressive visual!
Thank you so much for playing!
Great game! I particularly enjoyed crashing through buildings and crates etc - and spinning around like crazy! Controls did take a little to get used to but thought that was part of the fun of the game. Very nice!
I'm glad you got used to the controls, thank you for playing!
Very fun and awesome game! I loved it all!
Thank you!!
Once I got the hang of the controls... this is great in all respects! Very well done! <3
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for playing!!
Super cool game! I'm not familiar with Space Taxi but It's really reminiscent of a 2D Crazy Taxi
The colours you chose fit very well the futuristic game you were going for.
It was hard to get the hang of the control at first (I'm not super good with momentum controls like this) but near the end of my session, I was able to move quickly and precisely without much issues.
Good job on your submission, well done!
I was worried the other day, I showed the game to a friend of mine and he struggled with the controls. At one point I thought the handling was too unintuitive for a quick arcade game. But other people were able to learn it in a couple minutes. I'm relieved that you were able to get the hang of it in time.
Thank you so much for playing!
This is sick!! Fantastic work!
The graphics are stellar (and that palette really compliments it), the gameplay is fun, music is jammin, and heck you even managed to get destructible environment stuff in there! Awesome work!
Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I loved it, this really captures the soul of Crazy Taxi! The color palette is great, the soundtrack is nice, and the "breakables" are a really nice and welcome addition.
I wanted to add fruit stands as breakables, those are a classic. But I couldn't get the necessary particle effects working in time.
Thanks for playing!
I have no idea what I'm doing, and I loved it! I was banging and crashing into everything (not sure if that was intentional, but I was like dude, this is insane, haha!) Great graphics and concept. I just need to get hang of the controls :)
The controls are momentum based, and not everyone experienced Asteroids or Lunar Lander, so it takes more than a couple minutes to get used to. But at least you enjoyed the chaos. :-)
I loved it and I used to play asteroids back in the day, I'm just outta touch with modernism, had a blast playing it though :)
I've never heard of Space Taxi before, but after looking it up I would say you did an excellent job of reimagining it as a chaotic "Crazy Taxi" esque game. The physics were actually quite intuitive for me. I wish there was a little more variety in destinations, but the map had a good layout and the little bits of cash sitting around and the destructible terrain to make shortcuts were excellent little touches. Well done.
The original design was a city with 3 starting destinations, and you unlocked more districts over time. But I had to simplify it to make it in time. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
I loved it!
I used to spend hours and hours playing crazy taxi when I was a kid, and this really brought back a lot of good memories.
Your game is amazing, the music is very consistent with the gameplay and the ship has a good control within the madness that is the game, definitely one of my favorites of the jam.
I also spent a small fortune at the arcade a couple of summers, back in the day, and Crazy Taxi was one of my favorites.
Thank you for playing, and for the kind words.
Took a little bit to get a hang of but I really enjoyed moving around! Great arcade vibes and very nice graphics. I was afraid at first that visual clarity would be a problem but the game manages to communicate itself pretty well. Enjoyed the short theme song but I kinda wish it was a longer loop :/
Really solid overall, good entry.
I keep making the same mistake of leaving all the audio and music for the last moment. Getting the player controller to play nice with physics took way too much time.
Thank you so much for playing!
Really cool destructible environments! Had a heck of a time steering the taxi.
Thank you for playing!
