I really liked how you implemented the replay-able elements which totally caught me off guard. Level design had me a bit frustrated at first haha, but a little perseverance got me through it. The visuals and the music fit the charming story very well!
I got to spend more time with my daughter, 10/10
Haha thank you!
Anything particular with the level design you think could be adjusted, or did you think it was appropriately frustrating?
I think it was the appropriate level! The sprinting with the energy bar was a balanced mechanic that made it entertaining enough. If I had to adjust it, I guess I would put subtle visual differences in the crossroads or dead-ends (e.g. a broken jar in a dead end, or a stump at a crossroads), to have some sort of frame of reference when backtracking.
Yeah that makes sense, thanks!
This is a perfect example of a game with a simple idea that was executed well. The mechanics themselves are moderately interesting but shine within the context of the game. The simple narrative takes this game to an entirely new level. It is a smart use of telling a very simple story but using the strength of video games (interaction, or in this case the lack of) to sell the themes. Very impressive.
Thank you very much! And thanks for playing on the stream!
This game made me emotional =*) I liked the overall message and I had to go start over after I beat the game to confirm that the solution really was there the whole time ; )
The music was nice, and the story fit the theme well. I'd echo what others said about the tiles having visible seams, but that didn't detract from the overall story or gameplay for me. I was able to get through it all the first time around.
Nice little game with a cute story
Thank you! I'm really glad the message came across.
Yup, definitely need to learn how to fill in the seams between tiles, thank you for the feedback!
I really like this great concept the art was cool but put together less so because you can see the gaps in between some of the sprites maybe it was just how it ran on my pc but i think there is a gameplusjames video on youtube talks about how to make that not happen but it fit the theme really well and was very clever subversion of game play mechanics the timer makes you want to rush and get there and idk if it was intentional but it make me think about how people play games they can be in a rush to the objective and not see everything. And the kind of forshadowing by the daughter that she just wants to spend time with you(well play with her you know) and I feel like it could almost reflect life how we can be too focused on something and racing to get it done and if we just take a bit of time we can see things much clearer though that might just be me reading too into it lol. Overall good job with the concept was really cute and made me immediately invested with the sick daughter. also man pretty bed doctor gotta say lol, but overall really liked it :D
Thank you very much! Haha no you aren't reading into it too much at all! I'm really glad that the theme came across!
I definitely need to take the time to learn how to fill in the gaps between tiles, will look into that video, thanks!
And yeah, this doctor wasn't a particularly competent one lol
Short but functional, definitely fit the theme well. After finding out the secret of the game it definitely made navigating back through the forest much easier lol. Great job though.
Thank you very much!
I liked this game alot.
Not sure if i was to fast or what but the first two times i only got the WASD and space to sprint message. never got the other to instructions. so i had no clue what to do when i headed out to the forest.
Thank you!
I'll have to sharpen up the tutorial - thanks for the feedback! And streaming the playthrough!
