Hey! I really like what you've done here with being able to pick up the bullets coming at you. I think you could have won a lot by picking just the one or two best bosses and only working on them, so that you could have implemented some more feedback and stuff to make it more clear what's going on. But overall I like it! Well done :)

Second boss was pretty hard :D Any HP identification would be awesome thing to see. Also art style and idea in general are cool

Hi, friend!
I think the idea is great, but it was hard to understand did I hitted boss or not.
Also your game remided me the Cuphead - funny :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the visual feedback sucks for now, thanks!
The artist was trying to get into the Cuphead's vibe, so I'm glad it worked and she'd be too :)

Very nice visuals, however, because of the absence of negative score it really felt weird for not been punished for getting hit. Hope you'll fix this in post-jam version!

Developer(+1)

You can be sure we will! :)

Haha, game visual reminds me of Edmund McMillen style games!

Btw, great work so far!

Developer

Thanks :D

That's a very interesting association, people usually say it looks like Cuphead :D

Really interesting concept, I love the art direction and eating mechanic! Great work you should be very happy with this one!!

Thanks! :)

We sure are, but personally, I can't wait to do the post-jam fix, let the game truly shine.

Honestly same, it's so painful realizing my mistakes I made when I was exhausted, after the jam!!

The art and concept here are fascinating. the execution needs a bit more flare and difficulty. I saw no health on me or the bosses (not that its necessary) but I spent almost 5 minutes shooting at the black and white ghost and it never died. The entire time I never felt scared since I couldn't seem to get hurt. All in all good job and fun concept.

Developer

Yes, we didn’t have enough time to add a health bar for the boss and a counter of hits for the player. The black and white boss hides behind a stone and shoots over it, we tried to convey the fact that the stone is impenetrable and you need to beat the boss in the back. If we had time to complete the display of health, it would be more obvious.

Thanks a lot for feedback!

Developer

Yeah, consequences of being hit not being shown is a big problem, thanks for appreciating the game for what it is! :D
We'll surely do a post-jam version sometime, with everything in its right place.

Really great idea, felt like a lot was missing like health being shown, I was just sitting in the bullet stream and shooting really fast, would that be a valid tactic or would I still take damage? Great job though, like the art

Developer

You'd get damage, unless you:
a) are facing the bullet you collide with
b) don't have a bullet ready
Both conditions must be met.

The systems for this are there, only the display broke in the last moment. When you get hit, you don't die, it's only added to the hit count, which is basically this game's scoring system - the less hits you take, the better.

Thanks a lot for playing!

I guess the dark/light guy can only be attacked from the back? I don't really know but he never seems to die. Is there a health bar of any sort? Seems like it doesn't matter too much if I get hit by bullets without facing into them. Overall interesting idea though and I think the skull sprite is nice.

Developer

Exactly, that hiding guy can only be properly hit from behind. There is health, but it's not displayed, sadly.
First the design was for the player to die and restart the level, then it changed, that if you get hit, you get a point, and the more points you have, the worse is your end score, so the player could strive to do every boss no hit. The score recording is there, working, but we ran out of time to show it properly, so it looks like you taking bullets is consequence free.

Thanks for trying it out!
