Hey, coming from the community thread here. Agree with you the game is difficult, our best score is 37!

Not sure if this is intended, but how if the platform appears more randomly? For example, the platform goes left right, then right left to give more even more challenge.

Also, try our game as well (look forward to your feedback): https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462181#post-873981 :)

Wow, brutally hard is right! This is a fun, frustrating challenge, I like it :) Thanks again for rating our game!
And btw, 7-zip worked for me as well for unzipping!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it man. Thank you for your feedback :)

Nice idea, I was able to reach a high score of 36 after I picked up the rhythm. However, it gets boring after a while, so it needs some variety. Anyway, it was a fun experience. Nice work.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback.

I will definitely expand on the idea and I will do what I can when I can :)

Graphics display: ultra

I like the idea and the gameplay, you might be pushing the theme a little with 'one pair' hahaha.

Developer

You should see how it looks at low settings XD XD XD

Anyway....thank you for playing and for your feedback. Also, yeah many people have been telling me that I sort of cheated on the theme 😂😂

jumping and movement = epic

variety of mechanics = not epic

Developer

Your comment = helpful :)

feels good... and great concept behind it...
i wish if rhytmic game elements would be added this would double the fun...

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for providing feedback. A sort of rhythm best gameplay was exactly what I was going for but  I was only able to do so much.......

I shall try and expand on the game in any way I possibly can later on. ( Hopefully life will permit  XD)

looking forward to it.... remember to return the favor by trying and ratting  mine  https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/431948

On the upside, your game is functional. It was jarring to have it start so suddenly, but after two tries of trying to figure out what to do, I got into it.

On the downside, your game is solvable. For the third try I figured I'd just go until I lost once since it seemed simple enough to rate based on just that. I stopped having fun at 15 points. At 120 points, I stopped bothering and closed the game.

I think if you go infinite for how long your game can last, you really need some form of progression, even if just building toward impossible speed.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. I'm aware the game is rather light on content and is basically based on that one mechanic of the two platforms. It's what I was going for looking at the theme and everything of "only one"

Regardless.....at the end of the day, you're right. I won't take anything away from the fact that the game is basically screaming for some sort of progression system.I will definitely implement it in a final version.

Thank you so much for playing my game and for your criticism. I'll definitely keep it in mind :)

P.S 120 is a damn good score !!!! I honestly can't go past 70-ish since I end up falling out of the rhythm of the game XD

Took me a little time to get the hang of it but other than that, neat game!

Developer

Thanks for playing and for providing feedback man :)

hahaha the word play here with the GMTK theme is my favorite thing ... "One Pair"
Definitely some more platform variety and some signal/transition in between each platforms would be good.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback and for playing the game man :) .

I originally thought about adding some sort of signal......but I felt it's more challenging in its current state ;)

Submitted

it is definitely more challenging like this!

Submitted(+1)

Got like 40 points, would be cool if it started changing where the platforms spawn. Good job man!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback and for playing it . If the game gets enough feedback, I'll definitely try and implement your idea :)

Gameplay was a bit plain, it could use a bit more variation to keep things exciting, like maybe having the platforms appear at different places + telegraphing where they'll appear so it won't be impossibly hard. I also noticed that you used Unity, you could try looking into WebGL for future games on itch.io!

Thank you for your advice. This was literally my first jam and also the third game I ever made so I thought I'd just stick with an executable for now XD.

As for your idea about the platforms, I'll definitely carry it out.

Either way, thank you for playing :)

Good and cool concept, and fun but challenging game. The trick of one pair to stick to the theme it is really cool hahaha.  Nice work!

Developer

Thank you man . I'm really happy you enjoyed it :)

Confusing at the beginning but then I got the hang of it. Use Arrow keys guys!

Developer

Thank you for playing man. I did mention in the game's page about the arrow keys though XD.......

Feels good to move, cool sound effects and a surprising gameplay!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for providing feedback :)

When unzipping the folder is empty. Probably a problem on my site.

Developer

The zip I uploaded to itch contains the game in it's entirety. There is nothing missing whatsoever. Maybe you could try and unzip again or download the zip again ?

Not a bad game,  good concept :) would be amazing if it were expanded further

Developer

Thank you so much for playing. I shall definitely try and expand on it further.

Got 80.... then jumped too early ^^;
Was a bit too into my rhythm, oh well~

Developer

Ha ha. Well that's exactly the kind of game I was trying to make anyway. Where you lose yourself in the  rhythm of jumping between the two platforms. Thank you for playing anyway :)

Cool game, I like the art stile.

I'm so bad I can't even get a high-score above 2.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback. As for your score, it's alright. Maybe a little more practice should do it :)

Submitted(+1)

Kinda cheated the theme, and very light content not much to gauge design. Unique idea.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback. This was my first jam.......so I thought I'd do a simple idea.

Yea keeping the scope in mind is good. I like the fruits as an added challenge I just think the design is pretty light making the game feel a little shallow.  Great Job on your first game jam though!
