Cool game! It lacks polish and some visual and sound effects, but from the design perspective it's great. Levels introduce all the mechanics in safe environment first then challenge you. No complaints there :)

Interesting concept, good way to present different mechanics only with this movement. I missed more mechanics related with the bouncing. The box for example is a good one, maybe pushing switches, or dodging projectiles could work.

This is my entry https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462215 If you want to check it out.

It can be weird to only be able to move right, but I think this is a pretty good concept. I liked (and hoped for) more Challenge levels because they're tougher and involve more than simply moving right.

Really good job having the level design slowly introduce concepts, although I think you should have introduced the cannons sooner (because that's when things clicked for me. Moving in one direction never really was a problem for me and thus didn't really add much. It might make it more involved if you tilted the pogo to control your movement (farther forward == faster). That could add some nice risk (speed) v. reward element so the player is engaged while moving between challenges (ex. just pogoing on safe ground).

Thanks for playing as well as the feedback, that's an interesting one! :)

But making it probably counted as making a new game, since everything should be rebalanced XD

Hi there! Very interesting concept but I feel like it could been further explored. The level were all pretty simple but there is great potential here! Just one question: Is this inspired by Happy Whells ? I wasn't sure at first but when you introduced the cannon, I became more sure :) It's not bad to inspired, I was wondering... Apart from some small polishing problems to make the game a little bt more dynamic, great job!

Would love if you could check mine out too! Or not, no pressure ;)

Hi, thanks for playing as well as the feedback!

I think it's coincidental, the idea begins with only one button and one direction (to the right), then we realize that a twist to move somehow to the left will be interesting. Then the cannon is inspired by Donkey Kong.

Have tried yours as well :)

Thank so much!

Donkey Kong! Of course!

Nice chilling gameplay, very obvious connection to the main theme. Also, great job with levels, but they definitely needed to be more challenging for extra fun.

P.S. Very cute main character :)

Developer

Yea this game need more harder level and still need a lot of experimentation for combining all the mechanic.
Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback:)

Really nice game I think с:
"Only one button" is popular theme enough, but I like how did u used that.
But who is your main char? Is it pill? Or maybe alien?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoy the game! c:

He/she is an alien (figuring it out from the asset name since we used free art assets due to blackout for 7 productive hours XD)

Rather nice. Surprisingly addictive as well. Especially those canons XD

Thank you for playing and glad you enjoy it! XD

hehe, super cute and original gameplay. It was a bit slow/easy but it reminded me of the secret areas in Crash Bandicoot with all the careful box jumping. Nice work :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and sharing your feedback with us, glad you enjoy it! :)

Maybe slightly too easy but it's a good platforming game :)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, glad you enjoy it :)

Do you mind sharing how you imagine the difficult level will be?

Submitted

It's a nice platformer with solid mechanics but it could be a bit more challenging. Maybe by adding some collectibles and / or raising the pace of the game. But overall it's a solid entry, well done! :)

Developer

Thank you for playing, as well as your feedback! :)

We are curious how will the game be after exploring your feedback

Very interesting concept you have here. Most of the game was very good, and I enjoyed the level design, except for the first levels where you can beat by literally holding the button the whole time. There was also something that quite bothered me: the camera. It's fixed in a position where we can't see far down. Sometimes, we have to jump down into something we can't see. I think that for platformers, not seeing where we are jumping into is a sin. But hey, other than  that, you got a good thing going on here!

Developer

Thanks for playing as well as the thorough feedback :)

We were thinking that unable to see some part of the level will bring thrilling / surprising experience, yet do agree that it's really experimental. Do you have any suggestion on how we can bring this experience somehow in the game?

Submitted(+1)

The best way to make blind jumps is to give some time for the player to react. This can be done by capping the fall speed and, most importantly, giving more camera space. Think like guitar hero, where you can see the notes coming way before you have to press the buttons.  Camera control is a hard thing to get right...

Developer

Thanks for the tips :)
Yap, that can be done. But since this game is a little bit slow paced, probably making it that way really need a lot of testing and probably need a lot of adjustment which is not in our favor this time hahaa.
And also, yeaaa making the camera work is super hard XD

Developer

Done playing yours as well :)

Addictive as hell... flawless implementation ...

Also done trying yours

It's small but well mage game with neaat core game play, I appreciate neat level desing which gradually introduce to me different game mechanics, also all small mechanics work well. The only thing I miss is some collectibles, like coins.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, as well as the feedback!

We were thinking to add some collectibles but got limited time to explore (unfortunately). With the limited movement, will you recommend lots of collectibles like coins or special item in the stages? E.g. in 1 stage there's 3 hidden items that we can gather.

Side note, have played yours as well :)

Submitted

Well, technically it's not only one button because you have to click the UI buttons with your mouse... I liked the cannon segments, reminded me of Puffle Launch haha

Developer(+1)

Whoa, that's a good point! We didn't realize it until you mentioned it. Should proceed to next stage by pressing the right arrow and exit by holding the right button for some seconds to really make it really one button.

Thanks for the reference for cannon! Added for future references :)

The game is mostly holding d button. But the jumping looks ok.

Developer (2 edits)

That is exactly how the game is designed. Only one button to play :D
Is the game too easy for you?
Did you manage to finish the game without dying?
Thanks for playing our game :D

Thanks!
We have a surprise electricity black out that consume about 7 hours of our productive time XD. So we decide to maximize the development time towards creating and designing level and use everything that has been implemented.

Did you finish all the level?
