Congratulations for the game! I loved how you related the mechanics to the theme. Rated <3

If you are interested in Tower Defense, check out our game. A tower defense where you can control only one tower at a time.

I like the idea, it creates a lot of challenge and resource-management! It feels a bit complex to grasp the controls at the beginning though (although I imagine implementing a more contextual tutorial would take more time and effort for a jam scope, but still, food for thought). Would be nice if there was an indicator on the left/right of the screen when there's an asteroid coming so it creates more urgency and feedback to the player.

Agreed that the indicator would have been nice.  It was on my list - just not enough time to put it in, unfortunately.   Also on the list was to revamp the controls.  Thanks for checking it out!

The game is fun , i like the concept of only doing one thing at the time , the art is great too.

Thanks so much for the comments! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this, I liked the idea of taking only one action at any given time. There are definitely things I'd tweak, such as an asteroid indicator in the UI or more visual feedback when your attacks register on the asteroids, but I enjoyed playing! Great job!

Developer

Yep, there were definitely things I wish I had time to add like the asteroid indicator.  Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to check it out!

My pleasure! If you have a moment, I'd love if you could check out and rate my game as well. Thanks, and good luck! https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/460707

Good UI, solid gameplay loop. I'm missing an indicator where the asteroids are, as it is now it feels a bit unfair being hit by something you didn't even see, but I get you only have so much time in a jam situation. For some reason I found the controls to very unintuitive, but I don't out why, so I'm afraid that's not an overly constructive critique...

As the other comment pointed out, I also don't think this game changed enough of the base formula of the genre to stand out as having a "one" theme. But it's a pretty polished entry given the amount of content and time restraints :)

The indicator for off screen items was definitely on the list of things I wanted to implement but didn't have time.   And looking back, I should have just implemented mouse controls - it would have made things a  lot more intuitive. Lesson learned.  Thanks for the feedback!

This game reminds me of Atari's Missile Command, a classic defense game.  I do not feel this game runs far enough with the "only one" theme, given that the player is the only defender in most games of this genre.

Fair point about the theme.  I was trying to highlight the "one person" aspect with having too much to do with too little time, but it definitely is as mechanically suited for the theme.  Thanks for the feedback and giving it a shot!
