Nice and orignal game ! maybe to easy ain the beginning  but this is really cute and friendly user !

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed! ^-^

Very cool idea, I like the different dynamics of each character and swapping between them and having protect the inactive characters was a good challenge. I think the enemies could stand to move a bit faster to make them feel a bit more alive and ramp up the challenge. Also if you did a post-jam version then adding more of an objective to the game would be nice, perhaps having the player progress through a dungeon, with each room being a unique arena like you have now, I think that could fit the group of heroes theme you have.

Really good work!

Thank for playing! I have a bunch of ideas where I could take this concept, based from what others have said and some ideas I had early in development that I didn't have time to add. From adding a story centered around these 3 characters and their emotions about switching around like this, to a more handcrafted dungeon as you mentioned! Thanks for the feedback! ^-^

It's a cute game with charming concept.I had so much fun in this game. And I can't stop playing this game. Well done.

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed my game! Gotta go for that high score ;3

I love the cute art style and the approach you took for this theme! The presentation was very nice and clean. It wouldn't have been bad with a bit more polish, so maybe try working on that post-jam? Another thing that would be totally cool, was if the enemies were a bit more out of control, maybe make more types of enemies, or increase their spawn rate! Other than that, spectacular work!

Thanks for playing! I have a bad habit of neglecting enemy characters when I'm thinking of ideas, very much an afterthought for me! That's something I need to work on, not just in a post-jam version of this game, but other projects in the future!

Pretty much agree with all the points of the person below me. I really enjoyed playing the game, but I really wish there had been an end goal that I was working towards. I got to like 20,000 points I think, then decided to just see what would happen when one of my guys died. I do really like your take on the concept, and the sounds and visuals were quite impressive as well!

Developer

Thanks for playing! The format was just your standard get-a-highscore arcade game, so under that I didn't feel any goal was nessecary. I would like to work on this post-jam and I have had a lot of ideas that might give that sense of goal and direction you're talking about. Thanks for the feedback! ^-^

Pretty fun, small game :) the mage is most important to protect, because he cannot kill himself, the dynamic between characters is interesting, but it would be better if characters didn't swap so often and if there was some kind of indication of when it's going to happen. You could also work on showing which character you're switching to - maybe some kind of small ghost quickly flying off the previous one and into the next one? :) I think it could look dope if done well.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I’ve been pretty stubborn about having quick, random changes between heroes, but that ghost suggestion is both a good compromise and a way to explain the gimmick if I were to add a story xD

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed! ^^

An interesting take on the random switch control. Make you feel like you are controlling a whole squad of adventurer. The game was well explain at the beginning, so I didn't really had any difficulty understanding it. I would say that the game is a bit slow to my taste, but other than that it's good !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. Many people have had an issue with the pace of the game, mark my words, that will be addressed in a post-jam version ^-^

Haha, I love this game. Very unique, and fun dynamic between the characters... until I found out that the shield guy is kinda OP if you just left him in the corner. Then after that I just moved everyone to the corner and racked up score like crazy. I guess this is an easy fix if you make the shield a bit smaller. One gripe I have for the game is the sudden switch between characters. I wish there is some indicator that tell you when the switch would happen, but still not tell the player who will be switch to.  This would still create some tension while decrease the randomness for user control. Overall, this is a really fun game with a lot of potential. Great job!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! shh, don't share the secret of the corner!!

At one stage I did consider having a small bar on the screen to give a vague idea of how long it would be before a swap, but I liked the total randomness of the unknown swap. Maybe I'll try a version with said bar and see how it changes things :3

Glad you enjoyed ^^

Interesting and fun concept. The switching feels out of control but balanced , not too long or short on each hero. The abilities of each work well together and they all control intuitively. However, the movement feels just a bit sluggish. Mabey including some walls or objects would add more depth and strategy than just hiding in a corner. Perhaps a variety of enemies that require magic damage to prevent only healing spam from the mage. Fits the theme, overall quite fun and enjoyable. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! (didn't expect to see you here! ;3) The movement and the empty map are definitely the biggest issues people keep bringing to me. I actually considered having some enemies require magic to kill, but seeing as you're not guaranteed to play as your mage at any time, that might cause some issues. More depth is needed however, so that's something I'll consider in the future.

Thanks for the feedback! ^-^

Fun game, felt good to play.   There were other games in the jam that had a pretty similar idea, but you executed it really well. The pace felt a bit too easygoing to start with but got hectic enough by the time I  died :D My score was 27836. Good job with the game really liked it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm pleased you enjoyed my game! Good score too ;3

I liked the feeling of the dynamic between these characters, and even with the minimal art you can feel that they have different personalities. I echo what some others say about the movement speed, though that could also be remedied with a smaller map. However, exploring the relationship between characters who are constantly jumping back and forth between who's being the "leader" could make for an interesting story to go for if you wanna work on the game further. I like the ideas behind the gameplay, and believe you could make something great of these characters if you wanted to! Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! An interesting thought for sure, something I never really considered but there is potential for a story here, to build on these characters and what they would be like both to each other and the general situation. Thank for the feedback! I'm definitely going to mull this over :3

Thanks for playing! Movement speed is one of the larger critisims I've had currently and for the very reason you stated. I want to expand this game post-jam, so that is one of the first things I will be tinkering with (along with the exploit of standing in the corner ;3)

Great game! The idea is great and works well. Had a lot of fun playing it. Well done.

Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun play my little game :3

Really like the concept - switching between all three roles is cool and can create some interesting situations! Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the idea!

This is a really cool idea! I like how each hero feels very different to play and how you can use the shield hero as cover even if you're not playing as them. You could experiment with different conditions for switching like if you get a coin or if you take damage! Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm definitely going to fiddle around with this game more post-jam, lots of little things I want to try to really get the most out of this idea!

Very cool game! I love the idea of switching the heroes.

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the idea! ^-^

Wow, this was super good! And surprisingly tough. I like how each character has the same control scheme, but plays a different way. So many games in this jam fell into the trap of changing controls randomly just for the sake of it. I would like to see more levels with different obstacles. That way you can really start to think and develop your own strategy.

Check out game if you get the chance. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I’m glad you liked my submission! From the people I’ve spoken with, the idea was pretty sound, so I’m definitely going to fiddle around with this game more post-jam :3

Cool idea! I feel like the overall pace was a bit slow. An increase of movement speed would definitely help. My strategy became having the 3 different characters cover different areas of the stage.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! I would agree there. In hindsight there were a few different tweaks I could have made to help with pacing, movement speed as you say being one of the bigger changes.
