I love TD games and this one it's definitely a uniquie and fun way to approach it!

At first it seemed almost impossible to progress in the game, unlocking other weapons made it more affordable. I find it a little strange that the difficulty of the game progresses in this way, going from hard to easy, when it is usually the other way around when teaching new users how to play.

I loved the concept anyway!

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it.

We designed the unlockable weapons to be side-grades as opposed to upgrades, with no one weapon being objectively better than another. At least that was the intention.

As for difficulty, we send stronger enemies at the player the farther in you get. Have you found the laser pointer in the options menu? That thing really helps when you are learning the game (and when you're just playing it, both me and my co-dev can't play without anymore).

It's a cool concept. Definitely out of control- or at least hard to control. Maybe a little too hard. I wish you could fire faster (you could implement a cool-down mechanic or something so that the player can't spam but they can still fire rapidly when they need to).

Background is a little bland but I'll rate you nicely because 48 hours is not a long time.

Edit: Laser pointer made things a lot easier. Glad you added that.

I would also suggest increasing the size of the enemy hitboxes.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it.

I agree the background is a bit bland, I was looking for something to put there which wasn't too noisy or distracting for the player but I didn't manage to find/make something relatively quickly so I opted to drop it in favor of assets I could finish relatively easily.

As for the laser pointer, we really regret not turning that thing on by default. Everyone who we have seen playing or heard feedback from so far turned it on as soon as they learned of its existence.

The hitboxes are already a bit bigger than the enemy sprites would suggest, and I felt they were quite fair, but then again, I've been working on the game semi-non stop for 2 days so I probably got used to them in playtesting.

The cooldown mechanic is certainly a cool idea, but I'm personally quite fond of the system we have now. I might be slightly biased in that though. Should probably discuss it with my compatriot.

I really like the concept !

Wow, I tried it with regular controls at first, but struggled really hard to kill any enemies. Then I turned on the laser pointer, and that was better. I did still died from the helicopters quite often. It was only after my third attempt that I realized that right mouse button also shoots a cannon. But I guess that's my own fault for not playing the tutorial.

Interesting take on the theme. Once I understood that the cannons rotated you in different directions, I really got somewhere in the game (for my average skill :P)

Developer

Really happy to hear! If we ever take the project further, we'll be sure to make the laser pointer the default - we've had so much positive feedback from it. We tried to colour code the projectiles you shoot and the enemies, but thank you so much for your feedback and sharing your experience! It really helps :)
