I want to play that on my phone. Just add a button to speed up the robot and this is great!

Developer(+1)

There is a speed up feature available on the simmer.io page :) It was added shortly after the jam ended.

Nice

Freedom!

Very cool, I like that you incorporated the theme in the story line. A speed up when you've completed the puzzles would be nice.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Absolutely. It has already been implemented in the web version on Simmer.io, but it would be unfair to judge for the jam based on that :)

Seen a couple of these directional robot style games, but this was definitely the most charming and interesting of the bunch. Loved the robot design, and the twist was cool too. I  do feel you could've done with a fast forward option for the puzzle bit, and maybe some more stuff in the final segment (maybe arrows you have to avoid), but otherwise I really enjoyed this. Keep it up!

Excellent game, amazing twist in the end, truly did not expect that. Very very worth playing all the way through. My only fear for this game is that people won't see it all the way through because they think its a basic puzzle game when it is clearly more than that. Especially on the level where the switch doesn't work it  might seem like a genuine bug but then quickly you see it is part of the story. Great work and thanks for coming to the stream! <3

Fantastic game all the way up to the end. Great gameplay, great sense of humour and emotion behind it, I just felt like it needed a single step further to really hammer the emotional/comedic points home with more sound effects or snimations to really make you feel for the robots. You get sooooo close, but just need that one final push to finish the joke you've set up with the dialog.

Those are really minor points however because this was a fantastic game. Once the speed up feature you spoke about in another comment is introduced, this has massive potential to be a beloved fully released game.

It is a fun game! The music, genre and art fit really well together. I especially like the design of the robot

Developer

There is an updated version of the game available on simmer.io. The updated version includes a fast-forward option and some aesthetic fixes. Please do not use the updated version for rating during the jam!

What an amazing game, 10/10 IGN. Really loved how you flipped the game on its head. Hope you do well on the jam. One of the best I've played!

Thank you for playing the game! I had to step away from the stream for a few minutes, but I watched your reaction afterwards and it made my day to see your reaction.

I adored the game. I definetely have to say that yours is one of the best games I have played in the jam hands down. Through the game design it really shows you understand how to make a game. In the level with the open door, you made it impossible to get the normal objective, adn the player can notice that, so getting out is the only possible  idea. Real smart. I wish you the bestest of luck in the jam and keep up the amazing work!

Lovely graphics, neat game. I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thanks for playing!

Really enjoyed the humour and the game not sticking by its own rules - the bloody texts at the end felt a bit excessive in frequency and robots not bleeding or having the required appendages to write scraggly text all over the place. Either way, pretty fun! Cheers!

great execution, the story bits work really well (not sure if the binary text at the end means something :p)

as for gameplay, a classic puzzle but the time limit at the beginning is a great way  to add more pressure on the player.

Loved it! Really enjoyed the portal-like theming of the omniscient overlord deceiving you, and unraveling the mystery as it goes. I think you could do a lot with the format too, you took a classic puzzle format and add that sort of autonomous independence and 3rd person section, it could be expanded into something really cool.

One thing, I noticed the 'mute music' button at the beginning but (at least on my computer) there was no music and no sound effects. Not sure if that was because you ran out of time or it should be in there and it's a bug.

Great job!

Hey krantos. Thanks for playing my game and thank you for the great feedback! The music was set pretty low on my PC. I wonder if it's too quite on other systems. Do you mind if I ask which version you played (PC, Mac, HTML)?

Submitted(+1)

I'm on Windows. I went back in after you said that and turned the volume WAY up and the music is there, seems like, just REALLY quiet. I like the music a lot though (I played through the first couple levels again with the music on) and I think it fits well.

Thanks for testing it again. Maybe my speakers are set too high? lol.
