I love the concept but I wasnt able to flip through any of the pages. I could only open it up to the recipe index page.
The game could use with some music and sounds, but the art for it was very pretty.
Ah I'm sorry to hear that! Arrow keys to flip the pages left and right, and it sounds like you were flipping to the page with space.
Not sure why it wasn't working for you otherwise.
And yes, I'm creating a polished version with some sound effects which I'll release soon after the jam results are out.
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome, can't wait to play the polished version! <3
It's got music and sound now. :-)
The art is really good and I love the book with the recipes and potions. It was fun to create the potions. Just boiling the things in the cauldron was little bit tricky for me.
We're glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, the cauldron is the trickiest part! Use Q to add coal, it makes the bellows work better.
Greate game! love to create potions .. ^_^
We're glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the feedback!
It took me a while to get familiar with what to do, so I really like how all instructions are in the book and it's easy to access and flip through. Keeping the fire a consistent heat is a neat idea. And your pixel art is really good. Very cool game!
Thank you so much for the feedback! We're glad you enjoyed it!
The art in this game is stunning! Really cool concept. I really enjoyed it :)
Thank you for the feedback! Really glad you enjoyed it!
It'd be cool if there was a time limit or some pressure for me to make things quicker, but it's a super cool game.
Yeah we wanted to add a timer but, ironically, ran out of time.
Glad you liked it!
There is now a timer.
The game is cool. At first I had a hard time understanding what I could click or couldn't turns out I could click or drag something onto about everything). I liked the recipe book, but one recipe per page was way too little. It would have been cool to be able to see multiple recipe on a page, and not having to jump pages to see multiple recipe :)
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback!
Lots of expandablility! I loved the game art and the idea. As others have stated being able to drop items would be a nice feature.
Thanks! Yeah, I'll add that in the polished version.
You are now able to drop items.
I love this idea but I wish I could drop an item with right click or another key instead of bringing it to the trashbin.
A good suggestion, thanks!
Right click drop has been implemented.
Unfortunately, while on a AZERTY keyboard, it was very hard to figure out wich key to press, even when I switched to QWERTY.
Beside that, I found the theme and goal really cool and even if the recipes could be a bit complicated (blazing the cauldron is hard), I would enjoy play it more !
Another great point are the graphics that are so beautiful !
I would love doing more alchemistry if there are any updates !
Yeah, the plan was to have the items in the room be clickable (bellows, coal, wood) but we had more important things to finish before time ran out.
Thank you for your kind words! Novaturient was the main artist (though Stunbrick did most of the glassware). I'll let them know!
Yes, I am planning on polishing things up just a little bit after the game jam - improve the control scheme, add a few more recipes, and actually make use of the glassware that's currently just standing there looking pretty. :-)
Oh, one reason blazing might be so hard for you is the book is mistaken about controls. You blow the bellows with [spacebar] not [b]. Sorry about that!
You said you'd like to do more alchemistry if there are updates, well... there's been a big update!
First-off. everything is now clickable, so if the keyboard controls don't make sense, you can play everything with the mouse!
Not to mention a bunch of different improvements, sound, music, quality of life and other interface stuff, new stations and recipes, etc.
