The idea is simple but executed very well. The evil ghosts seem inconsistent: do they speed up over time? Also, broken level select, as it doesn't have 5 or 6. Uploading issue too, as the screen was a bit smaller than you seem to have wanted. Otherwise, great game!

Developer

Thank you a lot ! And yes, the navigator version have a little size problem but the game when you dowload it didn't have this screen problem

Developer

Thanks you so much for the review!

As ETN said, the level select screen and overall cropped screens should be fixed if you play in fullscreen (the blue square one, not the grey one) or play on the desktop app directly, we'll do better next time.

As for the ghosts, they DO speed up over time by some amount which, like the base speed, depends on the level. On some level they are a constant threat that doesn't speed up a lot, on others they start speedless but start chasing very quickly. It wasn't made clear enough and i'm sorry for that.

I hope you still enjoyed the game, and thank you for playing!

I enjoyed the game a lot, the grapple physics were very satisfying, and the art style was also good.

Cool game! I enjoyed figuring out the best routes to finish each level without dying!

Nice work, although I did run into some issues with orbs being off screen (as I wasn't running it in fullscreen). Wasn't a fan of the level that just made you wait, some of the others were pretty good.

An annoyance I had with the controls was having to click exactly on each orb, despite them being targeted by the outline already.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your review, I hope those didn't bother you too much...

The level that made you wait was entirely my fault. I thought that a level breaking a bit the game's fast paced rhythm would be a good idea if it traded it for the "what's gonna happen, am I going to get to the end in time?" part. It might have been too long of a wait though.

The outline part was both a workaround for people with resolutions that crop the screen (it's our first Game Jam, we aren't familiar with itch.io presentation at all) and a way to make it clear what and where the goal was, I can understand how it looked like an auto-lock though.

Thank you for rating the game, we'll do better next time thanks to those reviews!
Good luck for the Jam!

This game is designed very thoughtfully, and I'd like to give you a more thorough review in regards to it, but I got stuck at this spot, just not sure what to do, seemingly have no options other than clicking that one orb on the right.

I really liked the gradual progression of mechanics, I thought the pacing was very well done, the music and sound effects worked oh so well together, and the general vibe and atmosphere was a nice mix of relaxing while still maintaining a high level of engagement for me, that timer really gets you to focus to try to make the most optimized decision you can think of in the moment, and the chasing enemy feels like it speeds up as the timer goes down which really adds to the tension in the moment.

The visual design was spot on, communicated everything it needed to, while also providing a really thick atmosphere that you can really lose yourself in while playing through this.

It wouldn't be fair to rate it as a whole as I was not able to figure this part out (it could very well just be due to post-jam exhaustion, my brain feels like a boiled boot).

That being said, if you can give me a hint as how to progress, I'll share more thoughts.

This is a really well done game, would work great on mobile I think, should contact some publishers soon, I had great luck with far less than this.

Thanks a lot for your detailed response on mine as well, really appreciate it!

BTW I can't rate this, as it's not in my queue and I have not gone through yet, but I shall after.

Thank you for your very detailed review, it's been a pleasure to read it! I'll try to answer quickly:

The level you've been stuck at (level 6) is easily doable but quick response is necessary, You need to click the orb on the right in the first few seconds of the level, the torch will light up and the wall block you, but it'll come back in place after I think 6 seconds, so you have enough time to get to the final orb. It's meant as a simple yet clear teaching that: Torch can be lit up / Torch move walls that have the blue lock on them / Those walls can come back to their original position after a time.
Sorry if that wasn't clear enough. (Also I advise running in fullscreen mode, we didn't know itch.io's formatting beforehand so it's messed up and can crop the game if it's not in fullscreen).

Don't worry, come back rating us when you can, it's kind enough to want to rate back the game already!
Thank you very much and good luck for the Jam!

EDIT: I played the game on another computer and it appears that if the game is lagging out too much, the wall doesn't come back in place in time... This is fixed if you play in computer mode (with the .exe file that we made available to download). We'll make sure to not repeat this error later, sorry about that!

Looks really cool and has good sound design. The controls were a bit too slidy for my taste and I think there should be some more leeway with the enemies.

I really enjoyed this game! It's presented quite well - sound effects and music works together. Having the menu selection teach you the main mechanic was a great idea - I had the idea of what to do from the very beginning.

My favourite parts were just ekeing by the evil spirit, or just running out the timer. It had a good balance of action/puzzle elements, and restarting never felt like a chore. Very exciting game. Good job!

Thank you for playing!
I'm very happy to hear that everything went smoothly and that you enjoyed the more tense parts, those were a make or break for sure from a design standpoint!

A big thank you for your kind comment and good luck for the rest of the Jam!

The evil souls look nice, and the game is great

Super cool!! There were some souls that I couldn't see, when they were on the sides, even with full screen (on chrome).

I really liked the game, good job to all of you!

Thanks for the kind words! If we had more time we would definitely have added more levels to expand upon those mechanics, but we did what we could.
