Really nice piece, I see it more of an interactive experience full of emotional content than a game per se but its deffinetly not a bad thing. I love when games are more than simple mechanics to earn some points and thats that.
This explores real life situation in a simple well exectured manner, I was genuinely invested in my penguin and the soon to be chick. Im glad to say the egg hatched safe and sound.
Too bad we didnt get to see the cute baby, maybe in an update..??
Thanks for sharing and hope you can play and give honest feedback on my game if you have the chance.
Kudos.
Incredible execution on this game, fantastic narrative, sound design, story progression, lesson, etc.
I feel you should really polish this up post-jam and release it proper, this was a fantastic learning, narrative, and gameplay experience!
It's not too common to see a story-driven jam game, let alone one that really knocks it out of the park so well, great job!
This is a really solid entry, doubly so for a game jam! I like the focus on narrative and emotion. I felt like each "wave" of seals just missed grabbing me, which made me feel like I was playing well, though at the expense of the other penguins.
Not sure how scripted it is, and I'm sure some of the magic would be exposed on more playthroughs, but for a first time playthrough I was invested. Good job, both of you!
Thanks very much! I was hoping on adding an endless mode to really push the player and show off the actual gameplay loop a bit more but ran out of time sadly. And I do like that the game focuses more on the narration like you say :)
Aww, penguins and seals! Yay, baby birds!
I liked the sounds, music, and narrative. Very simple and captivating little game. It could use more interactive goal, but it was fun to sort of sit back and watch anyway.
Thanks a lot Levi! I'm glad you appreciated it. I always make my games way too hard ahha, so this one I tried to make it more of an experience type of game. :)
I love the art and the concept, but I think one problem was that I found the other penguins faceless, like something I didn't care about. I think a great addition would have been to have the opportunity to help the other penguins out and for them to help you. but I loved the interpretation of the theme, and it had a real community and warmth about it.
Thank a lot! 100% agree, that was the plan but sadly we didn't really have time in the end. <3
