Really interesting concept! I played until I backed myself into a corner and the game broke. Even though I had fun, I never understood what the goal of the game was. It just felt like I was just walking around.
Unfortunately, we lacked some time to make a proper onboarding.
Basically, the pitch is that you play the dungeon landlord and not the hero visible on screen, and you control the choices offered to this non-playable hero/character. They have to reach the end of the level by finding the exit (the general direction of the exit is given by the yellow glow in the mini-map).
Thanks for playing anyway!
Ahaaaaaa!! Right, I never realized there is an exit that I was supposed to try and get the character to. Yeah I can see how that will add a lot more strategy to the game. I think this could also make a really cool board game!
And of course, we have some breaking bugs, like the one your encountered where you’re asked to choose between two cards, but some of them are in fact invalid. We have to address that at some point.
This felt mighty ambitious, but I love when teams run with these ideas that we otherwise arent really used to seeing. I think there could be some really interesting mechanics here that might work well in a multiplayer setting, with one dm picking the options that the crawler has to choose from. Either way, great work!
An asynchronous multiplayer game could work indeed. We did not think of it but it is totally applicable.
Thanks for playing
As a fun of hexagons, I really enjoyed playing. Nice concept!
Thanks a lot!
The idea is really cool and the game loop is enjoyable and fun, but i can't be sure where the walls will be since i don't have a clear reference from where the hexagons will be placed. Got stuck after the character had no free room to place any other hexagons.
Yes, we identified a number of issues with that, as well as bugs with some edge cases. I think we should have rotated the camera with the character in order to provide a better orientation for the player.
Thanks for playing!
Pretty interesting idea having to predict how the character will react to your choices. The cards could be clearer with showing where the walls are going to be, also twice I got stuck where the character was running in place
