Great idea and premise, taking a style of game and putting you in the shoes of the often overlooked cameraman. The idea alone made me smile.

As others have mentioned the controls were a little clunky. I couldn't really tell what the JKL buttons were actually doing, and it was hard to tell what the game wanted for zoom level. That said I actually did have fun trying to just keep Hony in the center of the lens, and I thought the camera shake added to the experience. It both made it a bit more challenging, and it kinda made me feel like I was on my own skateboard trying to keep the camera steady with all the shakes that come with being on a skateboard.

One thing I really enjoyed was the skateboarding action itself. It was impressive how much he moved around and how many tricks and objects he was interacting with, so I appreciate the attention to detail there. It made me wonder if the route / tricks are hard coded, or if there is some randomization and AI on Hony's side.

Also, I appreciated the Flash-style artwork. Brought back some Newgrounds memories :D

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the game probably could have used some alternate controls, especially something like using 1/2/3 to control focus as an alternative to J/K/L. I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed the details with the skater animations

The routes are randomly generated each time, and Hony procedurally increases or decreases his speed using several metrics in order to keep him moving around the screen so the player is engaged. All of his tricks and animations happen dynamically as he collides with obstacles, and rails cause him to change lanes, forcing the player to adjust camera focus.

It's a very novel concept and really out of the box thinking. It really fits the theme well. The camera drift / shake is a cool idea but I found myself spending all my effort fighting to keep Hony in frame and didn't really think about any of the other features. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it's engaging enough to be the core game loop on its own and the others could just be trimmed out, but that depends on what your vision of the game is. Overall its a very innovative game, well done!

Developer

Thanks for the f feedback, we added the camera shake and drift to keep the difficulty somewhat high and allow for a higher skill ceiling. We noticed during development that without them, it was too easy to keep Hony in frame and there was not enough reason to zoom out.

I love where you were going with this! Lots of competing ideas, but with more time you could have smoothed them out.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, and we're glad you liked the concept. Could you elaborate on what ideas were competing, just so we know for the future?

Totally! I guess I mean there's a lot of mechanics, like the zooming which make it a bit hard to control.

This was a creative game but it has too many mechanics to be fun, i get adding the zoom in an out even tho i think its unecessary as well, but the lane shift is too hard to keep track of and to just have fun, also the hand positions necesarry are down right uncomftrable.  With some polish and gameplay changes this would be an awesome game

Simple, but really fun and creative!

This was fun! I really enjoyed your intepretation of the theme. The controls feel pretty challenging in a good way! Great job!
