Cool game, you could definitely expand on this.
It's a pretty solid game loop, trying to collect as many good items in the cave as you can so you can make as much money as possible selling them in the day. It was actually pretty intense when you are running back to the escape trying to remember the direction you came from while the torch is running out! I think you should think about making the cave part last for longer, as it is the most fun part of the loop, also maybe give the player a little bit more to do down there. also the font can be pretty difficult to read sometimes, which can matter when you are trying to read what the customer is looking for (maybe make it slightly bigger and a more easily readable font, or just if they say they are looking for a sword have the word sword stand out) I think with a bit more balancing this could be a really fun game. I had fun playing it and I would happily play it again if youre going to be updating with an inventory bug fix
This is a really good game. The gameplay loop is nothing novel, but the role reversal frames it in a really interesting way. Not a fan of the darker atmosphere of the cave and some of the audio choices and would've preferred the tone to be more lighthearted throughout, but that's just my personal preference and I can easily see people preferring it the way it is. Really exceptional work for 48 hours!
I love the idea. The execution is also very good and quite impressive for 48 hours, especially with art and music also being made during the jam. The story setup is also very nice and ties the game together very well. I was a little surprised by the quality of the game, based on how little comments and ratings it has, it was far better than I expected. Love the artstyle, the music choices and especially the cat.
The game reminds me a lot of Moonlighter, but afaik it was not actually inspired by that. So that is a nice coincidence that it reminded me of another game that I like :)
Keep up the good work, best of luck during both this and any future jams.
The concept has potential but needs a better execution. Both sides of the game need more meat for this to be a more enjoyable game
Great game, very cool idea. Curious if it was inspired by Stardew Valley?
My one suggestion is letting you speed up dialogue, as there is a fair bit of downtime where you can't do anything.
I love the switch in atmosphere between the shop and the cave. The cave feels very foreboding and there's a great contrast. I wasn't sure how to get more slots than the default twelve, which became annoying since I would pick up food in the cave but it would then be discarded for lack of value, meaning I had nothing to give to people who wanted it. I agree with others that the font is hard to read, but that's easy to change. Nice work on this!
Thanks for playing! Yep, unfortunately a bug prevents the inventory from growing the way it should and I ran out of time to add the upgrade feature that would have solved this, too. Cheers for your feedback!
Creative and fun game, I liked the art too. Good job
Thanks for the kind words!
I retired in 9 days of business lol. Awesome game and a creative take on the theme. I liked the footsteps trace mechanic and that kitten is so cuuuute.
I don't know if it's only me but the font used in cutscenes is really difficult to read. Also I think the punishment should include dropping cash not only items.
Pls expand on this and add more mechanics.
Thx for playing and congrats on retirement xD I agree on the font, I defo need to swap that out. Glad you enjoyed enough to make it to the end :)
Most polished game ive come across in the jam yet, great gameplay loop and artwork. Well done!
Only note is to allow more items carried and sold, i could only stock 4 at a time.
Thanks for playing! Yep, there's a glitch that prevents you from maxing out your shop inventory :/ Didn't catch that in time.
fun idea, there are definitely some unused concepts, hope for updates on this
Thanks! Had a whole upgrade loop planned, but unfortunately ran out of time.
