I got to the end of the game and was like, "Wow, that was short and didn't really fit the theme very well." Then the screen faded out and back in, and I saw the twist. Very nice, and clever level design to keep it interesting despite the twist. It made great use of the theme, too.
Unfortunately, I got in a death loop after falling in the water with the jumping fish. And that was fine, and I replayed the game and got back to the same spot again, but then I fell again (after getting a bit farther) and got in the same loop again. I'd love to see the rest of the game, but I don't really want to replay it a third time just to potentially get in that same loop again.
All that said, even from the bit of the game I could play, it looked and felt great. The animations on the knight and goblin especially were top-notch, and the platforming felt very good. Solid submission.
Thank you so much for playing it.
Unfortunately I couldn't fix this problem before the submitting time, but I intend to work on it for a little longer this week. =)
The art is great and i really like the twist!
Thanks! =)
Very pretty, excellent pixel art and savvy use of resources with the twist!
Thank you
Unfortunately a bug (couldn't use attack button after dying) prevented me from getting very far, the visuals are great.
Thank you for playing.
Unfortunately I couldn't fix this bug before the jam submitting time. =/
A very nice looking platformer. Interesting ideas with how you implemented the theme. It really has potential. Don't worry about the bug it happens. Had a great time playing it.
Thank you very much =)
Apart from the bug, the game was very enjoyable to play. Most submissions went for a mechanic reversal, not a narrative one. Extra points for originality xD
It could use more polish, but 48 hours is really too short for that. I would definitely play a more polished version, if you work on it a bit more. Cheers.
Thank you very much.
I intend to work on this one for a bit longer
had an issue where Id die on respawn. but I still had fun. Great job. the art is fantastic!
Thank you!
I'll fix it next week =)
Probably the most well done platformer style game I've gone through so far for this jam, super clean presentation too, Well done. Bummer about the bug!
Thank you so mush!
It's a shame I couldn't solve this issue, but I'm proud of what I could publish in time.
CRAZY ARTWOOORK so pretty
Thank you! =)
Such a cool game idea! I really like your take on the Reversed Roles theme, allowing the player to actually experience both roles back to back. I think you could do a lot of cool things with this formula, if you decide to do a post-jam version. It might be interesting to try something like Mario 2 where you control a variety of different characters and each one has their own movement style, jump height, weapon style, etc. Great work getting all this done in 48 hours, and even designing unique music and very nice pixel art!
Thank you so much for your review.
I pretend to continue working on it and implement some other ideas.
Looks like a lot of effort went into this, shame about the softlock but I can at least give honest feedback about the first part!
The sprites are well made and aesthetically pleasing, the level design is interesting and fun - I particularly liked that the “reversal” included literally traversing the first level backward as the other character, was hoping that might be a recurring thing later! - and although I have to say that M is definitely an odd choice for the attack button imo, it was suitably challenging to actually defeat enemies and time movement with attacking, when combat was necessary to continue.
Very well done in spite of the softlock bug, would love to see this get updated at some point in the future to fix and see how it ends! Saving it for later. 😎👍
Thank you for your review. It made my day.
Every jam is a crazy thing, but that was the first time my project had a problem that prevent the player to run the game to the end.
I'm very pleased that people can still enjoy it. =)
Fun, though i couldn't get to the end, due to a glitch that softlocks you if you fall in the water and die.
I'm really sorry about that.
I took a lot of time on the art and music, and had some problems during the coding that I couldn't find a solution in time. The game still had tons of issues at the deadline of the jam, but I chose to publish it as it was.
